I saw the movie two days ago, and besides the point that it was an amazing film, I learned a lot by looking at the main character and how he interacted with himself, with the girl, and everyone else.

and his journey of how he went from kind of a chump into an alpha male and the qualities he exuded were truly admirable.

I know it's just a film, but in this film the main guy was demonstrating the traits that a real man has, and these qualities made him attractive in the eyes of the female avatar.

has anyone else noticed this? I plan on seeing the movie again, again this guy was a perfect example of how to act like a real man, how to lead, to stay on you ground and your beliefs and do what you need to. how to treat your woman, and how to have a purpose in life, and be fearless.

perfect example of how to behave in an attractive way in your woman's eyes.

When you start to get into the game, you'll instantly start distinguishing between the alphas and betas. Though for me besides James Bond himself, there's no better example of an alpha male than Jason Ritter's character in "The Education of Charlie Banks." It's also perfect because the main character (the same guy from Zombieland) is a total beta and they both go after the same girl; contrasts how you should and shouldn't behave with women.

The story in Avatar is as gay as it gets.
The story wasn't bad, it's just been done to death. Dances with Wolves did it a lot better, imho. Cameron knows EXACTLY how to work the system, and knew that mainstream America doesn't care about originality or bringing something new to the table. He also knew that America wants AFC male leads and pedestalized female leads.

This is NOT a character to model yourself after. Yeah, the guy showed resolve and determination by not letting his disability keep him from fighting for his country. But he threw his career away and risked his life for an alien chick he just met. I don't really see anything very DJ about that.

hahah. Avatar goes bigger than pickup, IMO. Anyone ever read a book called Ishmael? It's about tribal societies and how that system of living worked for humans for millions of years. It's how we evolved to live, and there's a lot of evidence that it's more fulfilling and mentally/physically healthier.

In modern society, we live longer and there are billions more of us, but personal quality of life is questionable. In a tribal society, you'd have a role, you'd hunt game, work only a handful of hours a week, have a wife or two, and some children by now. You'd be healthy and in-shape (if the spirits hadn't seen fit to disease you or something.) You'd be surrounded by your family members and friends daily. Tribesmen joke and sing all the time... Good stuff.

Then, there's the fact that our current society is based around rampant growth and expansion. We grow as much food as we can, trying to feed the hungry. Although we grow more food every year, there are more hungry every year. It's a law of nature that population always increases to the point where someone is starving. Running out of resources is an upcoming problem, and damaging the planet so that it can't support much life anymore is also.

But also.. Avatar has some examples of fearless living. Like when they take those leaps of faith where they could fall to their death. No room for fear... Just focus on what you want to get done and do it.

The problem is never shortage of resources, just waste and uneven distribution

there's enough food and water on this Planet (water never runs out) to feed everyone and everything. It's just that some people have more than they need and some don't get as much as they need

It's true that we have an uneven distribution, but if everyone on the planet was given exactly as much as we needed in some sort of communistic system, then the population would increase, and we'd have to produce even MORE food. Then the population would increase AGAIN, and we'd have to produce MORE...

There are only two ways to stop this. The first is some kind of mass population control, like China's "one child per family" policy. The second is the natural way: Limit resources, and you limit population. Unfortunately, the natural way will inevitably happen unless we can somehow enforce the first way.

Also, I'm no expert on it, but from what I've read, FRESH water (not sal****er) is going to become a commodity like oil, possibly within our lifetimes. There's technically a lot of it on the planet, but most of it is trapped in glaciers, or in other expensive-to-access places. Cheap, easy sources will become scarce.

There were a few parts of the movie that intrigued me and the second time watching it I noticed things that only barely caught my attention the first time.

He says he just trusts his body to adapt to the environment, he learnt that it knew what to do, I parallel this with out subconscious if you train it properly it will just know what to do.

He says there are no mistakes and you have to learn fast to stay alive, for me this is represented by how a man tries to make mistakes before his competitors or enemies can because then he is learning that much faster.

He learns to breathe properly when drawing a bow which is powerful, few beta's breathe properly but it is something all Alpha's subconsciously process with ease (as in they don't even notice their ease of breathing, a clearly distinct advantage over any beta because then an Alpha doesn't get as easily upset or forced from calmness and confidence).

He learns to feel his environment around him, with his energy field or aura, and to learn to learn the trails and plants as to have the knowledge of his environment that helps him have a leg over his competition. I.e. knowing openers, knowing how to banter and SOI a girl, knowing how to demonstrate value, how to neg her, how to isolate her, how to time warp to a bar or restaurant after your initial meeting (insta-date) to make it feel like the night is longer than it is in memory, creating strong rapport with the girl, taking her home with an excuse for her own mind to let her come into the house (stereo, bottle-cap cap collection lol, ya no on the last one but stereos are cool, prepare some soft/calm music before hand and offer a massage or get her to massage you), getting past last minute resistance.

If you don't know some of those above terms, learn them, its recommend, get a leg over the competition, those other beta males that shouldn't be competition, and wont be if you can do the above within 4-10 hours.

Good movie and a lot of good lessons to be learned, if you're observant, and the story wont be gay if you just let your mind and imagination wander, but hey despite how great a movie is not everyone needs to like it I suppose.

And remember, every good strategist from Napoleon to Sun-Tzu, Casanova to the Don Juan, all have a campaign (with a desired outcome, the plans to get there and any obstacles they need to overcome planned out) that is well designed to their environment and that they can see, hear and feel the results of.

I just gave you a lot to think about so try to digest it.

*I* have a role, free clue, if you don't have a role now, you wouldn't magically be a gifted man with a role then either. More than likely you'd be dead anyway, which segues nicely into a later point.

Ya, sure. Primitive life is a dawn to dusk fight to survive most places.

Who are dead (along with most or all your kids) due to lack of sanitation, medicine, childbirth catastrophes, etc.

If you call toothless, probably crippled or dead "healthy and in shape". Have you ever really BEEN anyplace where there is a primitive tribal lifestyle?

The lucky ones who lived to see 35 and are merely toothless and busted up, instead of dead.

Yeah ....

EDIT: Yes I have been to such places, in Asia and Africa. It's not pretty.

No, have you? I've only read about it and watched some documentaries.
Here's an example: http://www.raw-food-health.net/HunterGatherers.html
I've read a lot of other things which all say similar stuff. Examples of sucky tribal life can be found, but so can sucky examples of modern life. We have wars, crime, natural disasters, starvation, jobs like factory worker or janitor, etc.

I'm thinking about it sort of like a caged animal versus an animal in the wild. The wild is much more dangerous, but also more natural. Animals in zoos are happier the more their conditions simulate the wild (up to the point of starvation or predation, I guess.) It's a trade-off, and I don't know whether I would really prefer tribal societies to modern ones. They each have benefits and drawbacks.

Whether or not our society provides any better or worse quality of life for its average citizen, there's the fact that it's expanding to levels dangerous to the environment and sustainability of resources. We don't want to run out of ****. Tribal societies obviously worked for millions of years, whereas modern society has so much effect on the environment that we can't sustain this level of resource usage for even another few centuries.

As I noted above, yes, Asia and Africa. The reality is not pretty and in those places 1st world countries ease the pain immensely with volunteer medical services. Without these life would be even more brutal.

Hahaha. Boo hooo. Most 3rd world citizens would give a non-critical body part for a career as a janitor in America.

Well I'm thinking about it as a wild field of onions versus a snow plow. My analogy makes no sense and neither does yours.

No comment. You're wrong, but I'm not gonna get into this now.

If you want a movie that shows a true man, you should see the main character in Gladiator. No..not 300...Gladiator.

He displays intelligence, courage, leadership, mastery of his mind, body and soul...and he is a good father.
He also displayed loyalty to those who deserved it, kindness, duty, integrity, honesty and a host of other admirable traits.

Avatar? It displayed a new Sony camera system and very flashy special effects, wrapped around a tired story, poorly told. Look at the redlettermedia review if you want a fair but accurate trashing of Avatar.

I kind of agree with this. Not only that, but did anybody else find the interspecies attraction aspect a little disgusting? I mean, this chick wasn't a human woman of a different ethnicity. She was technically a different species altogether. Abandoning your entire planet to commit beastiality doesn't sound very DJ to me either.

The movie was entertaining, though.

Am i right when I say that this movie is a lot deeper than flash bang action and romance.

I think the movie is specifically tailored for people who are close to having mental breakdowns (and can now see in 3d/think outside the box i.e people who have become highly intuitive due to extreme stress) and its purpose is to show them how much they can do with their lives if they choose to accept their avatar of talents and fly.

Its just marketed as a big blockbuster movie but its main purpose (see xplanation above) is hidden. This is why it has grossed so much money, bcos ppl who are clued in have gone to see it more than once.....

Thoughts?

Yeah, I have a thought. You're very easily impressed by stupid movies with predictable plots.
