I have been addicted for many years to pornography. I can not discuss this with my parents or friends because they would not understand and would not provide the sort of support I would need in order to overcome this. I do not know what I'm attempting to achieve with this, I just thought it would be nice to have some motivation if some people would be willing to provide it. Anything you say would be greatly appreciated as I try to cleanse myself of this disease.

I'm a former addict as well. I used to watch porn for 2-3 hours day. It eventually got to a point where I was completely desensitized to it and I no longer got erections from it. It completely ruined my sex drive and my ambition to speak to women.

I decided I needed to make a change. I began working out and eating a healthy diet. I lost 25 pounds. I would recommend taking baby steps. Try not watching porn or masturbating for 3-4 days. You'll feel great, have more energy, and you'll begin being attracted to regular women again. I still masturbate, but do it in moderation, usually 1-2 times a week.

Trying to just cut it all together. I have tried tapering in the past and I always end up messing up. Keeping a joker card in my wallet in order to count down the days and remind myself that its all a joke if I mess up. Also its a good excuse to have a joker card in my wallet. After day two and a break up with my girlfriend, I'm going strong.

Trying to keep my myself busy and away from the computer with mass amounts of homework and exercise. I greatly appreciate the stories and assistance you guys are providing me. Its really putting it into perspective, and giving me more and more motivation to not return to that horrible habit. In case I start to get the urge, I just think of Newt Gingrige, and I survive. Day three, going well with a little bit more force than yesterday. If just to motivate myself, nothing can stop me.

I'm constantly being reminded that temptation haunts us every day in every way in the appearance of choices, people, or what ifs. The vibrant world with a myriad mass of possibilities which we can never truly understand until a pathway turned from imaginative speculation into reality. Day four has had visions of the temptations what if world, but they were merely what they were. A vision with no actual control of my life any more.

Yeah, yeah. Enough of that. Let's get practical.

Where do you get your porn? Under what conditions do you consume the porn? For what reasons? Are you bored? It's a habit?

You're going to have to be more specific. You treat this like any other addiction and short circuit the cycle however you can.

Think about how much staying off porn will help you.
Porn ****s up your mind. You know who's a big porn addict? Ted Bundy, one of the worst humans in history. And yes, he blames his actions on his addiction to porn. He also points to porn as the cause for most of his immates' crimes.
I'm not saying you'll become a serial killer, but it is obvious that every second of soft and hardcore porn you expose yourself to, the more your brain is being irreversibly damaged.
Think about this right now. Not later when you're about to click on those movies. It is useless to try to convince yourself that porn is bad right when the urge comes. you must convince yourself of its effects on your life when the urge is not there. Then you will be able to have better control of yourself. The urge will eventually come again, but your impulses will be a little more controlled each time if you keep in mind the rest of your time what is best for your psycological and spiritual welfare.

Here's a link to Ted Bundy's interview where he gets right to the point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_-I5nceNzU&feature=related
If you really want to stop you will watch that interview. That should do the trick in convincing you to watching stop porn.
