My mom is an alpha female too. My dad works on his interests and projects. I grew up an only child. My parents are both only children. So I entertained myself growing up. One set of Grandparents were cool, the other very uptight. Never made time for me. They were perfect and always right.

Although mom was an alpha, she does not fit the mentioned list posted above. In fact, quite the opposite. She was "the Boss", however she did not instill confidence in me. Quite the contrary. She always told me "I wish you were more like me". Yeah, there's some positive reinforcement for a young son growing up. I made a comment on this a year ago, of course she denied ever saying that. I laughed out loud...She's an impossible egg to crack and damned proud of it. Lots of Pride...

Sometimes I have felt like Adam Sandler's character in "the Waterboy". In fact it was on TV one day, I looked at mom and I could tell she knew this was her. Lol...
She does not believe in taking risks. Always the safe road. Which results in a long life of safety and naivete. And few rewards.

My mom is also an Alpha but she and my wife get along like two peas in a pod. Really an Alpha female is just someone who is unhappy with their marriage/man has chosen to assume the subordinate position and refuses to take on a leadership role. I think all women really want to be the 'sidekicks'. My mother loves hanging around my wife and vice versa, I guess because my mother enjoys living vicariously through my wife in some capacity. If I need something done, I go to my mother... there is no point in asking my father, he is incapable of doing anything on his own and whines and stamps his feet when he is made to take any responsibility.

Is it any wonder he grew up in a single mother household?

I would think that is an indicator or could lead to being an alpha female @samspade . But I think in our society women can achieve as much power as men if they apply themselves correctly therefore an alpha female is just the same as an alpha male.

alpha female, aka a bitter and lony woman who can't keep a man around (she will repel then with her crazyness) and becasue of that start to hate mens because no one is stupid enough to deal with her, so she start to build on her mind she is too good to any men(hey i'm not the problem), best we can do is ignore and let that land dry up
