"Today is the first day of the rest of your life." -- origin unknown.

I'm sure you've heard or read the foregoing phrase numerous times, but I bet you've never really understood it.

Essentially, you need to forget about your past mistakes, or rather, forget about the disappointment and pain they've caused you, while retaining the lessons you learned from those experiences. You must tell yourself that every mistake you have made in your life is one less mistake you'll make in the future -- PROVIDED YOU'VE LEARNED THE LESSON IT WAS MEANT TO TEACH YOU.

While it may seem contradictory, every time you make a mistake you come closer to your goal. Your mistakes are actually a measure of your strength, not your weakness. They are indicia of future success. Mistakes are merely the price you must pay to succeed.

You must persevere in your desire to succeed in whatever you do -- PROVIDED YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING. If you are truly passionate about what you are doing, you will never look upon your mistakes as failures.

Remember, EVERYTHING that happens to you is intended to teach you something. There is no shame in making mistakes. The only true failures are when you don't learn anything from your mistakes.

In a simplified way, yes. Unfortunately, while some people do indeed learn from their mistakes, they never let go of the pain associated with it. You need not wait for "time to heal all wounds," rather, when (or if) those wounds heal is up to you.

An STD forum is a good idea. My suggestion would be to also have an "STD Bible," with tips and suggestions for avoiding contracting an STD. The dangers of sleeping with people you barely know (i.e., the bar/club pick-up one night stand), or even disregarding common sense when sleeping with people you thought you knew.

Now that I think about it, I probably should have posted this on the Tips board.

This is so true. If people try to run from their problems instead of facing them, they won't develope that much even if they decide to change their habits. The pain hurts, but it MUST be faced! Then, and only then, one can start healing his wounds. And I say this from experience
