Don Juan
My entire life I've been clumsy. It's part of the reason why I was so insecure and shy up 'til I was about 15. I couldn't talk to girls, and it wasn't my looks, girls always complimented my looks, however I feared embarassing myself.
I was scared to play sports or do things where people watch because I was scared I would trip over and embarass myself. I always dropped things, tripped over, knocked into things, and even though I'd try hard not to, I couldn't help it
Then a friend suggested to me that I may have dyspraxia. So I did a little research and this is briefly what I've found out. So it may affect you too.
It affects 10% of children, and there is at least 1 person out of every classroom of 30 kids who will have it. Dyspraxia is otherwise known as 'clumsy child syndrome' or 'minimal brain damage' and basically means that a very small part of your brain is underdeveloped.
Here are the symptons of dyspraxia:
- Clumsiness, prone to drop things
- Lack of motivation
- Tend to forget things (bad short-term memory)
- Lack of friends as a child
- Lack of organisation particularly in the later stages of school
- Shyness
- Hard to stay focused on any activitiy for length periods of time
- Low self-esteem
I've managed to overcome everything except the clumsiness itself.
If you think you have it, don't be scared by the big word 'dyspraxia'. Basically it means you're just a bit clumsy, that's all. It's one of the most common things, it's not a disease and its your not weird for having it. All it means is that you drop alot of ****.
There's no cure for this, but you can help your motor skills slowly by doing things such as playing sport or something to increase your coordination.
