My entire life I've been clumsy. It's part of the reason why I was so insecure and shy up 'til I was about 15. I couldn't talk to girls, and it wasn't my looks, girls always complimented my looks, however I feared embarassing myself.

I was scared to play sports or do things where people watch because I was scared I would trip over and embarass myself. I always dropped things, tripped over, knocked into things, and even though I'd try hard not to, I couldn't help it

Then a friend suggested to me that I may have dyspraxia. So I did a little research and this is briefly what I've found out. So it may affect you too.

It affects 10% of children, and there is at least 1 person out of every classroom of 30 kids who will have it. Dyspraxia is otherwise known as 'clumsy child syndrome' or 'minimal brain damage' and basically means that a very small part of your brain is underdeveloped.

Here are the symptons of dyspraxia:
- Clumsiness, prone to drop things
- Lack of motivation
- Tend to forget things (bad short-term memory)
- Lack of friends as a child
- Lack of organisation particularly in the later stages of school
- Shyness
- Hard to stay focused on any activitiy for length periods of time
- Low self-esteem

I've managed to overcome everything except the clumsiness itself.

If you think you have it, don't be scared by the big word 'dyspraxia'. Basically it means you're just a bit clumsy, that's all. It's one of the most common things, it's not a disease and its your not weird for having it. All it means is that you drop alot of ****.

There's no cure for this, but you can help your motor skills slowly by doing things such as playing sport or something to increase your coordination.

I'm clumsy as hell, but I won't go as far as calling it minimal brain damage. I just move the wrong way at the wrong time.

That sounds like ADHD - Attention Defecit Hyperactivity Disorder, also once known as 'Minimal Brain Dysfunction"

Some signs of this disorder include

- Tendency to forget things (bad short-term memory)
- Lack of organizational skills (in any stage of school, and after)
- Hard to stay focused on any activitiy for length periods of time
- Inability to sit still
- Impulsivity

Because of these traits, kids tend to do poorly in school and are seen as 'annoying' by peers, leading to

- Low self-esteem
- Lack of friends as a child
- Lack of motivation

I don't know anything about dyspraxia, and I know that ADHD does not cause clumsiness, but it just triggered a little red flag in my head when you said that they called it "Minimal brain dysfunction" - at least for ADHD that notion was dismissed long ago. Maybe you're referring to outdated sources?

man u're doing wat i sed, u're scared bcoz its a 'big word'. it is minimal brain damage, all it means is that 1% of ur brain isnt functioning like it should. nobody is 'just clumsy'. there's a reason why im clumsy and other ppl arent. when their brain tells them that something is there, our brain doesnt recognise it, thats why we run into things

Huh? Being clumsy doesn't necessaraly mean you have BRAIN DAMAGE.

Just like not being a professional golf player doesn't mean the "golf" part of your brain is retarded. Whatever the hell thats suposed to mean.

^omg ur doing the exact same thing

just bcoz it says minimal brain DAMAGE, all of a sudden u're like 'oh no, brain damage, thats not it'. the part that should be highlighted is MINIMAL. they changed the name bcoz that's not even what dyspraxia is

for the 3rd time, it just means a VERY VERY SMALL AND TINY portion of ur brain is underdeveloped!

and there's a huge difference between not being able to play professional golf, and not being able to walk without tripping over everyday or constantly dropping things

Well, judging by your writing, I guess you're right with the "brain damage" bit.

****, here we go. Another cop out. the last thing these guys on this board need is another bullsh!t condition to place the blame for their problems on.

Dyce, you dont have dispraxia. You have suckalotia. seriously, people today want to blame their problems on everything but them.

I used to be skinny, geeky, lame, uncoordinated and unable to play sports. Know what i did? I didn't place the blame on some farfetched medical condition, i manned up. I stoped sucking so damn much. You should try it too...

I get what you're saying
But by the phrase "brain damage" alone, the reader automatically thinks of a really severe case. But in my opinion, I was stating that it's just due to bad luck. B/c some factors are out of our control.

Dyspraxia, ADD, adhd, high cholesterol, and aspartame are all tricks of the devilish FDA. (food and drug administration)

They are all 100% focused on profits and have ties with drug companies, so when things go dry, they create a new disease and a new (deadly) drug to cure it.

Seriously, think about it, when you hear the drug commercials on Tv or something, the SIDE-EFFECTS are more numerous and dangerous than the ailment....

But you are a teenager and what you describe is within the range of normal behavior for teenagers. When you hit puberty, your arms and legs grew longer before your chest/stomach grew, which results in clumsiness, and there are probably other physiological changes which contribute to clumsiness. Even for myself, I was extremely injury prone in my childhood, accidents were my life story. I thought it was me but now I practically never get into accidents.

Here is the important part, though, you cannot diagnose yourself. Even doctors go to other doctors for their problems. It’s a code of ethics. Furthermore, many disorders in mental health have a minimum age requirement—such as it’s impossible for a seventeen year old to be diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, because the symptoms of the disorder are considered to be too similiar to typical teenage behavior—and I would strongly suspect dyspraxia may have one. If not, dyspraxia would at least require a brain scan. Did you go to a doctor and undergo a MRI scan? So, point is, unless you went to a doctor, you cannot say with any certainty whatsoever you have dyspraxia but furthermore you cannot diagnose yourself.

No, on all accounts. Trudeau is a fraud. Look it up.
