Why is it that every girl i meet has no idea whats goin on in the world.
My gf and her friend were playing scategories and neither one knew where Indianapolis was.
Her friend thought it was a state, and when me and another guy who was there were in utter disbelief at that comment, she defended her friend cuz it sounds like "indiana". My gf then said she hates geography and history and was really dumb at it. So I interject that i always have been interested in geography and history, and I was reading the book 1776 at the moment on the train in the morning. And she jokes that im a loser cuz im reading that. And shes like "i know nothin about politics, i have absoultely no interest in it" So i'm like yea neither do I, but I like to know whats goin on in the world around me, i watch the news and read the paper occasioanally. And she says "i never do that, i have no desire to"

I dunno this just annoys me. I dont care that she has no interest in politics and doenst read the paper or watch news, but she seems so proud of it, she has told me that on a number of occasions out of the blue. It's like shes damm proud of being ignorant. Whats even worse is when girls joke that ur a loser or somethin cuz u read or watch news. She actually said "wow people on the train must think ur smart" My view of her dropped like 25% tonight.

Lemme rephrase this, are they any attractive intelligent women. I've never met one. I mean shes intelligent in many ways, she is not a dumb girl at all, and she has her head on straight. But why on earth would a person be proud of never reading the news or watchign the news? I mean ive heard people joke aboiu that, but this girl is damm serious when she says it, and she says it all the time like she thinks its cool. Why? i wouldnt even care if she didnt make fun of me reading my 1776 book. I change for nobody, and i will always read books on history cuz i like it. So i guess im just kinda dissapointed cuz i really like her and im seein a side of her that i really dont like. oh well, i hope she is not that dumb.

In answer to your question, I think it's the systematic dumbing down of certain western cultures. Schools are trying to focus on math and science, but are completely destroying art and English; and yes, on occasion, social studies.

It's nice to learn math, and fairly helpful, depending on what you do in life, but most of the time, it seems like you learn things you're never going to use, and then forget it after you take the test.

And...It's not just women. It seems like it's everyone.

Just a few ideas.

While i agree with what u said, i dunno she just really set me off tonite by jokin that i was a loser for reading "1776" on the train. It's a bestseller and i like to read. It has nothin to do with my insecurities, as im sure the insecurity watchdogs will point out soon. Its more just being dissapointed in her, cuz i can tell already shes emabarassed that herbf would be reading such a thing. I can tell by her reaction cuz my ex gf was the same way. She made fun of me for a similar thing. It just bothers me that girl after girl is the same way. Shallow and narrow minded. All they think about it wat there wearing the next day. So i dunno, is it the wrong woman or do i just have to accept this about her cuz all these girls r dumb as hell.

Even my roommate's gf (she's smart, studies hard, goes to college) will sometimes come out with quesitons that just leave you wondering wtf?? E.g. Where is Dubai, is it in Europe?

Male and female intelligence (if measured by IQ scores) both have about the same distributions.. that is to say, they are as smart as us. You'll have to decide where intelligence fits in your criteria, and screen for it early enough. Ask 'em brain teasers as a fun game.

As for your two friends with the geography problems.. I'll get into conversations where some hidden knowledge or intelligence comes out of me. Others will look at me funny for knowing stuff. I'll look at them seriously and say "I don't apologize for knowing things."

Knowledge isn’t really essential… successful people in life aren’t always the most academic, rather they have another kind of smarts… lets be honest, you didn’t get with this girl because you thought she knew where Indianapolis was… as it turns out she doesn’t like Geography so she doesn’t really give a fvck about it… she could be a wicked mathematician or writer though, but I’d hesitate a guess that by her comment she’s neither, lol… however, I’m sure she has a bunch of other skills and attributes which make her attractive besides her looks… if she really is all looks, then you shoulda just thrown her into the fvck buddy category from day one

omg yea that happens to me too. My gf and others have asked why i know certain thing. ive been called the king of usuless information - which i actually find funny. But when she makes cracks at me beign weird or a lsoer cuz of it i get pissed off. I am my own man, not what society tells me to be cuz im 25. I love to learn. I read whatver i can get my hands on. No even the people who post dumb thing (myslef sometimes ill admit), seem to at least know stuff. Tho yes im sure there are some dumba$$es as well.

It's just that she is supposed to be smart. She is in grad school and has a 3.6 gpa, and will be making 90 k pretty soon. So all of society is constantly tellin her how smart she is, and she even says it too, she is always self deprecating herself - that shes a dork or a nerd cuz she knows alot of science (which is what her field is)

Yet how do u not know the 50 states? How can u think reading newspapers is what losers do? It boggles my mind. Other than this i really like her, she is a smart girl when it comes to social interactions and ive had some very intelligent convos with her. She may even be better at that stuff than me, in fact i think she def is. But why be so proud that u dont know a thing bout politics and never watch or read news ever. I mean i barely know anything bout politics either. i dont think its horrible that i dont, but at the same time i aint proud of it, id love to know more. Id love to know more about alot of things, i like self improvement. I guess when ur biggest concern is what ur wearing next friday night these things dont matter.

The only way i can understand it without having to insult girls is that maybe they are more practical than us. I always thought it was the other way around. But i dunno, maybe watching an hr documentary on the life of Hitler really isnt gonan do me any good. Maybe i should worry bout goin out and buying that dress jacket i need for special occasions or the shoes i need cuz my shoes r fallin apart. Maybe i should just worry bout social interactions and my physical appearance and nothing else, cuz none of that matters.
Kinda sad, i like doin crap that doesnt matter sometimes. Ive noticed this with older couples - the man is always wrapped up in some hobby - whether its building something, fixing cars, watching sports, fantassy baseball, electronics, etc etc.
and the women are usually passing their time more like this - on the phone with friends, entertainging friends, cleaning, cooking, etc. etc.

Anoither thing i notice is with all my freiends paretns who are in their 50's and 60's. The men have few friends, the women have lots of friends. Usually the mens friends r just the wifes friends and their husbands. Not always but i see it alllll the time. Why is this? I find this stuff fascinating. I think im just not gonna worry bout my girl not knowing stuff, cuz it dont really matter. Ill know it, shell have to catch up, her prob not mine.
