Shortly after class, as I was walking to go eat, I saw a fire truck and a police car and a bunch of paramedics gathered on the walkway. I walked slower and noticed there was a girl, eyes closed and face cut up and bloody, lying on a stretcher! I have no idea what happened...I asked the people around but no one knew...they were stapling the girl's neck and head!! It's really odd because there is no obvious hazard in sight.

Anyway, point being, it really strikes you when you see something like that. Yeah, you can see videos of someone being hit by a car, and saying that it could happen to you. But, wow, life really can take turns for the worst when you just don't expect it. That girl was probably just walking to class and who knows what put her in that stretcher, and who knows if she's even alright?! It's very different when you see something like that, it really makes you feel so thankful and you forget about your worries and little details that shouldn't matter.

Life really is waaay short, don't take it for granted. Take every opportunity and just let go, be free, feel good, light up someone's day...be happy, whatever, just slow down and actually live. Everyone is too caught up in their stressful lives that they don't take a second to appreciate the true beauty of life. You can't bring back the past or control the future...the time is now...live it.

Amen to your post. I see it everyday with my job and i have come to realize life is very fragile. If you go to sleep one night with regret that is one night to many! When i was younger i planned way to far ahead. Now i live everyday with as much energy as possible. Because one day you may be struck down or you may be 80 years old looking back at what you did, the last thing i want is to be a miserable bitter 80 year old guy

Yes i am thinking the same thing. I wasnt gonna go to university b'cos i would leave all ma mates.

But i wanna go for the experience and also because where i live, the town, is a crap hole.

I also talk about this when im drunk. Last time i got pissed i kept making a vow with my mates that i would go sky diving. lol what a **** i am.

You know what i mean tho.

The city that sleeps. Sometimes.
we need to remember this more often.

life is short. live it to the fullest. you never know what's going to happen the next second, so never forget that.

so go out there and follow your dreams, ambitions, pursue the girl of your dreams, take a chance, etc, etc, etc.

I had strange symptoms about 2.5 yrs ago. Neither my doctors nor myself knew what it was, until I had them check my blood again and it turned out to be mononucleosis.

Some of the stuff I felt really worried me, but finding out that I wasn't fatally ill was like a beam of bright holy light into my heart.

I felt so grateful, full of life... but I went back to taking things for granted.

It's a tough habit to get out of (taking things for granted) but I try...

If you have a gun pointed at your head, it IS a big deal. Your only a click away from not living.

wait till you have a gun pointed at you, that really changes your perspective.
I've been to court to defend myself against being a hostage taker:p last summer I slept through a hostage situation, I was too drunk. Imagine if I died in my sleep:)

I go to poker nights, and I see guns hanging on the walls, so I asked about them once. The guy is now in jail because of how excited he got that night.

I've seen people reach for their guns, to actually shoot me, or just try to scare the **** out of me.

I've been faced with the chance to play roulette with one of six, for the entire table. My life is not worth a table full of money.

Thanks for trying though fuzz, try being a cop, just imagine how that is. I'm sure ytou've got a few words to say about how disrespectful they are to you...

Thanks for this thread karat, it's been a while since I thought of this...

Actually no, that's a lie. I shrugged off the thought last night. Some guy owes me money, and he was begging for change, while telling me about how he is quitting smoking. His mother, his father, an uncle, and two aunts, have died in the last 4 years to lung cancer... It was only in the last year that he started to cut down from 3 packs a day. The only thing that ticked me was he nearly broke his back, to the week that my friend had his skull crushed from a fourwheeler accident, the only difference was, he was drunk...
