My cat was playing behind my tv and the power went out and then it went back on, but the picture is now all a dark red.

I went into the tv picture menu place and checked all the settings and they are where they should be.

If it were an old tv, I know I would need to replace a bulb inside, but this is newer tv..

The User Manual just says to do what I have already done.

The information on the manual is: "Magnavox 26MD/32MD251ID LCD TV with DVD Player."

Any suggestions would really be appreciated; I am not a technology person and it took my 12 year old to tell me how to use it in the most basic of ways as it is.

Hallo

Not sure if this helps, I'm not an engineer or anything but I had the same problem with my LCD monitor not so long back. LCD screens still use a backlight to illuminate the LCD, this is a special sort of bulb (lamp) that doesnt get hot. If the backlight goes on the fritz you can get this 'red screen' effect. I believe LCD screens for TV's are similar to LCD monitors.

For LCD monitors, you can pick up a used backlight fairly cheap & fix them yourself (carefully), I dont know what the deal is with TV's, check your warranty, this sort of thing might be covered as the backlight should last a long time.

I would look at your warrenty first. If you open the case you may void your warrenty if you have one. If you do have one, just take it back to the store. Don't tell them that it was your fault say something like your power surged and the lighting on the tv got messed up

That happened to me once. I left it unplugged overnight and it was fine in the morning. Then, of course, I killed the cat.
