For example, powerlifting, olympic, Girevoy Sport, strongman? I don't yet, but once I get my clean and jerk to 300 pounds, Mike Burgener, Team So. Calif. coach and my old high school coach, will recruit me for the team (olympic lifting), and once I can afford more kettlebells I'm going to start Girevoy Sport training (1-KB snatch and 2-KB jerk for reps competition)

i personally think those kind of competitions are stupid. lifting such heavy weight is not really good for your body. its true that lifting weights is healthy overall, but going overboard is definately not.

plus, have you seen the powerlifting guys? theyre usually some short squatty guys who look like they have a hernia. not something id wana strive for.

If you don't like it, stay out of the thread. This isn't a thread for bodybuilders.

well, I do circus arts and trapeze... I dunno if you consider those strength spors per say but they reqire you to have a large power to weight ratio... as well as finess and body-awareness in the air...

very hard to develope and something very few, few people can do and do well...

I used to powerlift, but I don't really have the correct body type for competition, nor would I be interested in competing.

What are your numbers?

Not sports, but they require a TON of strength. Those guys are amazing. Some of the cirque de soleil guys do crazy stuff too like a turkish getup with a human weight, or a bottoms up press with two 72-lb kettlebells, one on top of the other.

What are your numbers?
Squat: haven't maxed in awhile, probably 270 lbs (relatively crappy)
Bench: 185 (very crappy)
Deadlift: 319 (not too bad, considering I almost never deadlift)
Clean and jerk: 193
