I have a serious problem which I dont know if any other dj's out there have had to deal with it. I am 19 years old and never had a serious gf of any sort until I went away to college last year. Since then I have matured and grown especially with the ladies.
Yet I have one major problem, my mother, she tries to undermine any possible relationship I am having with another woman once it begins to get serious to any extent. My 1st real gf when she found out about her would constantly call me up at school and cause arguments with me over the phone to the point where people could notice I had major things on my mind and was acting weird which inturn made me completly take my mind off the girl I was seeing and neglect her completly. Other ladies I have gone out with she has seemed to have a problem with and whatnot...

Recently I have been going out with this girl who went from long time friend to now friends with benifits and hopefully without her trouble turn into a gf as we have discussed. Yet last week my mother being friends with the girls mother gets into this huge fight and also brings the daughter into it, not only that she is trying to make up insane rules for me to keep me away from this girl, stupid curfues whenever I am going out with this one girl in paticular and that she cannot call me on my cell phone and all this bs....

This is causing me serious issues with djing girls and maintaining the relationship when I have to deal with external problems. Any other dj's out there if you have encountered problems like this please let me know how you overcame them or any suggestions are completly welcome...

BTW my father has gotten involved into these arguments between me and my mother and is on my side and winds up not talking to her for days which inturn she just blames me....

Well, you're 19. I assume the problem is that you are still based out of home during the summer and rely on your parents for money.

So the gifts she gives have strings -- she wants control of your life.

You'll have to decide what is most important to you now.

Listen man, your mother has codependancy issues..she doesnt seem to get involved in her own life as much as she does with yours..

you need to sit her down one on one..and tell her gently to BUTT OUT!

if she doesnt do so..you have to move out (if you live with them)

Mothers like this will drag your game down for life if you let them..but you have to stand up for yourself..and let her know her interefernce is causing you some angst and that you appreciate if she just lets you experience life yourself..tell her you are a FULL GROWN MAN!

I can identify with you too well. I am 25 and my mom still expects me to call home every day, even though I have lived on my own for a few years now. I know she doesn't mean any harm, and is concerned about my well-being and all, but I just can't call home to mommy every night obviously, lol. Nothing will turn a chick off worse than a guy who has "mommy issues", that's the most important piece of advice I can give you. If you're stuck at home for the summer, do what you have to do to keep the peace, but once you're back at school, limit the amount of contact you have with home. This is a necessary stage in becoming a man of your own, the sort of man a woman would want.

Just remember, no woman wants a man with "mommy issues"!!! I want to save you a few years of wasted time based on my own experience, you are 19 and becoming your own man. You have obligations to no one but yourself.

In agreement with Halo. Cut mommy loose.

You have to just have a heart to heart with mom. Sounds like she's still wanting to baby you. Guess you can't really blame her when her son, all of the sudden, is all grown up..moved out..and is taking women seriously. She's going through with-drawal. Let her say her piece...but...you got to sit her down and let her know what YOU want for YOUR life.

Don't be a d*ck to moms. Talk to her like a man..an adult..and she'll most likely respect and treat you like one.
