Any (Active) Army, Airforce, Navy personal, have any advice for me on the Military?

Hi all, I'm unsure which forum I should be posting this in.

I'm interested in joining a military branch, for active duty or reserves.
About 7 Years ago, I broke my Femur bone (Compound Fracture) and I had a steel pin inserted in the bone of my left femur itself after surgery. I'm fully functional, no health problems at all.

My question to you is, would a pin in my femur hinder me from joining the Military ? I could definitely pass the ASVAB, just this damn Pin seems to be holding me back from taking City, State or Federal Law-Enforcement jobs. I'd really like to join the Military over Law enforcement, even with the risk factors of coming back Limbless, or wind up dead period.

I'd appreciate the advice, thanks in advance.

Let's assume it hinders you...well, then there is nothing you can do about it.

Now...let's assume it does not hinders you.

My point is...you will go through a medical examination anyhow and they will determine if you are medically capable.

Note: The main "risk" factor would be getting CONSIDERABLY underpaid for the amount of work you are doing...as I have seen many enlisted men with Food Stamps and WIC.

I've been in the canadian reserves for 4.5 years now, although it is not quite like the american military reserves (ie. we don't have to go overseas if we choose not to, but i have had a few friends that just come back from afghanistan). I'd think other than that, the reserve life is probably the same.

it's too bad you guy's cant "try it out" before joining the regular force.

anyways. I cant answer your question, but i'd tell you what i'd do: get it checked out through whatever you guys do down there. the military doctor or whatever. the medical examination. if you pass that,then you're good to go. if not then there's not much you can do about it right?

Thanks for all the tips and helpful information guys. I will go to a recruiter sometime next week, seeing if I can visit an Army doctor.
