Answering Machines IS it cool to leave a MESSAGE???

Because I am a little tramatized by the Movie swingers.. Where the guy calls the answering machine.. you know what iam talking about..

I read and re read the bible it says dont leave a Mesage the FIRST TIME.. but it doesnt say anything about after your first chat on the phone.. Would it be cool to leave a message..

Unless her interest level is really high or you've made numerous attempts to get a hold of her without success, its not advisable.

You put yourself in the position of having to wait for her to call you back and if she doesn't (likely scenario) you then end up having to call her again, which makes you look a bit needy.

I agree with Francisco d'Anconia. There is no reason to leave a message otherwise, especially if it is for them to call you back.

Women/girls have caller ID. So they will know you called. If you block the caller ID then they will know that they gave their number out to a guy and then they started getting more "Private" calls than usual. Eventually, they may pick up on the Private call, it will be you so they'll figure the rest of them were you and that comes off as creepy. They're not that stupid. I say give it a couple shots and then leave a message. 99% of girls with high IL will call back.

Dude, you make it sound as if we are afraid of women! So what they know that we called? They were not there to answer and we do not care, we have things to do other than talk to a machine.

Whenever I call a lady...Im always prepared for an answer machine to come on..so I always leave funny messages (either a voice impersonation, or you are drowning in a bathtub, or use computer sound effects and be creative with something

JUST MAKE IT FUNNY!

One time..I left a message "hey! wanna hear my new kitten?? c'mere kitty say HI!"

then I would play the sound effects of a Lion Roaring ..or a cheetah going nuts..and me being attacked by it

I get call backs 99%..and they always say that message was soo funny..

just a thought

What Impersonations do you do?

I could do scooby, Shaggy, popeye,daffy duck..various animal noises..some celebrities (bond, sean connery), various accents (most of the women crack up at my australian accent/crocodile dundee), gay lisp dude, etc

and sound WAV files are all over the internet..

The one I thought that was funny was onetime I was talking on the machine..then played a dogs voice getting his tail stepped on..then a whole bunch of dishes breaking ..with me finishing with "Owwww..Im gonna have to call you back"

I first noticed this when my sister would get messages from this guy that always left funny messages..she would replay the message for all her friends to hear

then I noticed that I was getting more call backs from chicks who thought my message was funny vs the Ol "hey its starman..give me a call Bye"

It Really works..and if the chick doesnt call you back..she has no sense of humor and deserves to rot in hell heh

I have better things to do than redialing some chick's number all the time. Plus, you liked Starman's idea- Isn't that talking to a machine??? I never said you had to leave the same ole stereotypical boring message.

I've just found, consistently, that a girl who isn't even interested enough to return a phone message generally won't be willing to set up a date, etc. and not flake out even if you DO get her on the phone.

Seriously you guys need to relax, this whole damn message board filled with you budding DJ's needs to RELAX!, yes there are these wonderful DJ tactics and little rules, but you can only take them SO FAR,

you guys have to STOP being so affraid of women, you can't walk on egg-shells! especially if you are looking for something a little more long-term then just a one night stand.

Leaving a message on a machine, in the beginning may not be the greatest idea, but really even if you do IT MAKES no difference.


If you guys have to use these fake little tactics to make a woman interested in you, then my friends you are missing out on something, you are faking and moldings this womans interest in YOU, these sharades and games can't last for ever you are bound to get tired, once you do they will BOOT......

You can't fake this type of stuff.

If you are genuine, confident, sure of yourself and have something to OFFER... Like a spark of life, humour, whit and optomism like no other, THAT is what sparks interest.

Obviously you don't want to leave 1000 messages on her machine and come off as a raving lunatic stalker, but one message is not such a horrible thing either.

Yes it leaves it up to her to call you back, but if she has any interest to begin with, she WILL call you back... Then it's your turn again, not so bad.


Basicly, it's not such a big deal...... I personaly wouldn't leave a message right away unless she was "expecting" a phone call on a set date, and I couldn't get a hold of her, then I would out of courtesy to show that I DID call and CAN be trusted.

Otherwise it's not necesarry.

chwly is correct..you people are putting to much stock into the Hidden Meaning of leaving a message

It dosnt make you less of a man..it doesnt take Power away from you, nor make you look like a chump..

Do whatever you want..but equate Leaving a Message..with ZERO VALUE..that is if she calls she calls, if she doesnt she doesnt..

leaving a message is not a power struggle..unless you make it one in your own mind
