Do you think I have Coccydynia?

Ive had this recurring problem where my tailbone becomes sore and swollen, and my lower back is sore as well. Its hard to go through the day, I have to be careful how I sit and lay down so I dont cause myself more pain, doing anything causes it pain really; sitting, standing, walking, flexing my glutes, sleeping/laying down. I have to sit on one cheek leaning in one direction so I dont directly sit on my tailbone, even putting on my pants in the morning hurts.

I tried my usual workout today and I couldnt find a comfortable spot on the bench to lay down, much less press 185 pounds. This happens once every few months with the same problems, so Im thinking I have Coccydynia?

Yep sounds like it.

Oh well you are not without hope.

There is surgery available for it.

Well I dont want to take it to the extent of surgery, I guess I can live with it, its only once every few months, but its just so irritating and uncomfortable, are there any quick fixes or something to ease the pain? I took an advil but that sh1t never seems to work

Well apparently there's a kind of pillow you can buy especially made for it.

Hey guys do you think I have a tear in between my glutes? See i tried to pull my glutes apart to see if there was anything interesting there (sorry for the nasty images, and no...not "that" kind of interesting oject :D) Im thinkin its maybe its a tear because it HURTS when i tried to pull my cheeks apart (okay i need to find better wording) but theres no bleeding, and im also thinking it hurts when i sit, stand, walk, lay down, because all those movements cause my glutes to separate away from each other! Maybe? :)

EDIT: Good news! Im pretty sure it was a tear, because now its not even as close as painful as it was this afternoon, i cant bend over (no homo) and pick things up without pain, I can even sit down normally, im still going to wait until monday to start training again :)

Okay this is getting extremely out of hand. Last night i thought i was going to be fine but that was just the advil doing its job. I tried to switch positions up and then i felt a terribly sharp pain between my buttocks, so i got up from bed and wtf, i feel like someone is stabbing my ass (no homo) Theres no way im crawling back into my bed so i got my computer chair and threw a couple pillows on it and now im trying to sleep.

I want to go to the doctor but i also dont because he is going to have to spread my cheeks apart (again, no homo) and look for a problem, i tried to spread my cheeks to see whats there but it feels like someone is tearing up my ass (LMAO, no homo, I SWEAR!!)

So yeah im at a crossroads right now either the doc causes me some extreme pain or i resort to being tortured until i can find out whats going on, plus i dont want some guy checking my ass, how embarrassing

How did you get the abscess? Hope you're ok man... rupture of an abscess and spillage of purulent discharge into tissue can cause badass stuff like sepsis...hope it works out ok in the end.

Don't worry Andy you'll be ok buddy.

My uncle's gone through a few surgeries for staph infections and one recently where the doctors had to operate on his ass as well to fix the opening lol.

Funny to read about but still serious stuff but yeah man don't worry the doctors know what they are doing.

Just make sure you suck down all your meds regularly.

Thats the worst offense people do the past few years ie not take their meds and it just helps to make bacteria strains stronger and more deadly and immune to medicines.

So yeah suck all the pills down and if you miss a dose by accident don't get upset just make sure you take your next pill.

Thanks guys, will the antibiotics get rid of the problem? The puss has to come out, if not there has to be a surgery! Im reading that the only way to solve the problem is going under the knife, i dont want that.

Im in so much pain but thank god for ibuprofen because its a godsend. Anyways i already took 1800mg today, whats the safe limit?

On a on-manly note: when im off the pain killers the only thing i do is cry like a little baby because i cant sit or anything, the simple task of pulling down my shorts causes me extreme pain...

They might.

Depends on how much infection is in you really.

Don't worry though man I'm pretty sure the surgery is essentially just them going in like they do with staph infections and basically just sucking out all the infection goo with a needle or some kind of hose.

I think this would qualify as a minor surgery which would mean you'd be out in a day or two.

My uncle had that surgery I told you about and was out the same day travelling places lmfao.

Hospitals don't like to keep people there for long periods of time anymore due to costs and well things have advanced so much they really don't need to anyway.

honesly the only thing im worried about is the needle for the anestesia (sp?) i hate needles, especially in my ass, but thankfully the surgery is only around 30 mins long and immediate relief of pain

Take all of your antibiotics. Worst thing you can do is to stop taking them when you feel better. You want to kill all the bacteria, if there are survivors you're screwed.

Take what the doctor reccomeds, no more or less.

The antibiotics are probably going to screw up your digestion later. Kills good bacteria in your gut as well. After you're good and healed, look into probiotics for digestion.

Hey a little bit drained in the shower and it was disgusting! The abscess is still the same size, IDK what to do if it starts to drain alot, like taking care of it and stuff...

Did you consider calling the hospital about it?

Did the doctors give you any instructions about what to do if this happens??
