I was watching American Idol last night (yeah, yeah, I know) and there was a guy on there, didn't sing particularly well, but wasn't horrible awful like some of the joke contestants either. Anyway, here's the point:
The two female judges told him that he was too confident. Kara DiGuardia told him that he was a guy who would benefit from being less confident, that he came across as ****y, and described his entrance as a "strut". Victoria Beckham told him that he made her itchy because he was too confident.
Now I didn't really notice if he was overly confident or not, he just seemed like another audition to me. But the point is, I thought women liked confident, ****y guys. Why did this guy get such a negative reaction. Part of his backstory was he was a football player (in college I think it was), a long snapper. Maybe the girls saw this and expected a football player to be ****y? Maybe they had some boyfriend trouble with a jock at one time and took it out on this guy? Could they have actually liked his confidence but said they didn't (they all voted no on him)?
All you see on this forum (and other dating sites) is confidence, confidence, confidence. Yet these women seemed to react negatively to it. What's going on here?
