with a weighted belt, backpack or holding a bumbell with your feet.

If you hate barbell rows, you could also consider switching to t-bar rows, or DB rows. They are easier.

If you haven't tried them already.

You have to do rows for back thickness and as an antagonist to benching.

If you deadlift as often as you bench you will be balanced just fine.
Rows are a great movement though and shouldn't be substituted indefinetly.

Yeah. The carry over is surprisingly low.

You could look into the reverse-grip rows. They work more of the inside part of your back rather than the lats. It's what I'm using on my current 6-week plan to mix things up instead of the usual bentover rows I normally do.
