I have been trying to not limit myself with mixed sets. Reason, they dominate the bars I go to. The other day, I saw a girl who looked bored so I walked up to her while another dude was talking to her friend and she was completely shut off from the conversation and no attention was on her. I went into entertain her and said "you look bored, whats wrong." She started to tell me and he cut her off and said to her "don't talk to him", I tried to introduce myself to the guy by asking what his name was and offer my hand to shake his. He smacked mine and said **** off, I was about to beat his ass. What is a better way to handle this?

Well, if you can back yourself up, I would have went, "whoop! what a fvckin crybaby." then if he swung at/or got in my face, then it's on, of course, in My town I wouldn't do this cause the cops will fvck you hard if you get caught jaywalking or riding your bike across a crosswalk..."You're supposed to dismount!..that's a $40 ticket, either pay the fine by mail or see you in court." They tack on every charge imaginable here so I'd have to just try to walk away peacefully. If at a house party then that's what you say. In a public place with strict cops, just laugh at him.

Don't go for the direct confrontation unless you know you can fight or take the dude out, because if you can't, you end up getting your ass beat. And it's either humiliation in front of the one girl vs humiliation in front of the entire club.

Instead, undermine him. Make a derogatory remark about the guy being the chick's older brother or something and walk away with a jackass smirk on your face.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

Say: "ok, ok, daddy said you can't talk to me, you should listen to him" just to make her feel stupid. And yeah, nowadays you get arrested for fighting some tool in a bar for a girl you don't even know. If you can lay him out in the parking lot like a Navy SEAL in 2 moves then go for it, otherwise, it ain't worth it.

If he continues to mess with you the whole night, then you crack a Heineken bottle over his head and you go balls out. Don't stand to get intimidated/bullied.

First, it was good that you picked the girl that looked left out. From a purely game perspective, that's smart. BUT, that assumes that it's two girls together and a random dude is only gaming one of them. (It's the instant wingman scenario. The other strange guy rarely objects and sometimes is glad you are helping him out.)

On the other hand, a guy that enters the bar/club with two girls should be avoided IME. It's an uphill battle at best or dealing with a possessive a$shole (like you experienced) at worst. If you MUST go there, talk to the dude first to see if he's a cool guy.

Most of all, arrive at the bar early and be aware of who comes in with whom.

No doubt this loser deserves a beating lol, but I'm not a fighter so I probably would have dropped it and let it go.
