In some areas the difference between age varies. From my experience the larger the community the less priority people put on age.

standard creepiness threshold for dating is (your age)/2 + 7 rounded down so for you 17/2 = 8.5 + 7 = 15.5 to 15, so you're fine =)

You are fine. 16 and 14 isn't the best combination, but as you become older, the 17 and 15 combination is fine.
Basically, you are a senior and she is at a second year of high school, or around there. But I'm not sure about Australia's views on this matter..

As someone said before half your age plus 7, it works for every age, the only rule without exception.

huh.

I didnt know there was an equation to figure out if you were creepy or not.
Their isn't, but someone thought it would be cool to have one. I've heard that stupid formula before on here, and it is nonsense. Go to the over 25 thread and you'll see that. I have neighbors who are 10yrs apart and will probably spend the rest of their lives together. Though we are talking 50s, but they didnt use an equation. Look at Senator John McCain. He and his wife are 17yrs apart.

It seems weird in a number sense when you are younger. When I was 23 I was dating an 18yr old. For a bit she was 17.

When you get older, no one gives an Fvck about your age. We dont go by formulas. EACH person is different. In the old days, women were marrying many older guys. This happened in many cultures, and many were married until the other died.

Actually, you've got that wrong. That rule can't be applied when you're under 16. But obviously that doesn't matter here.

Age difference has always made me a little edgy. I was born at a weird date (October) and my primary school had an odd system, so I'm almost a year younger than everyone else in my class, which I get grilled for quite often. That means I'm younger than most of the girls I date (make that ALL of the girls I date).

in all fairness id never actually listen to the equation, just so far relationships iv seen or had tht stuck to it didnt seem weird stuck to it and those that appeared weird didnt. The only real things I would consider are that i think at 18 i wouldnt want to go out with anyone under sixteen, perhaps begin a relationship and wait, and at 21 it may be weird with an under 18 year old?

But thts just me.

Even though girls mature quicker, there are always exceptions to the rule. There are exceptions to most everything. One 18yr old girl may not act like the second 18yr old girl.

One 16yr old may not act like the second. I see this proof at work. I work with many younger people, and they are all different. We're not talking light years difference, but they are.

I hear one girl say hi all of the time, she's nice, she never seems to have drama with the other girls at work, she is sincere, and great to be around. She smiles all of the time and you can carry on a conversation with her.

The next I hear.... cvnt, fa**ot, homo, fvck this and that out of her non-stop. Even how she talks to me. She cries out for help when she wants relationship advice, and then she yells and screams at me when I give her the truth.

She is more unstable than a firecracker on the 4th. She doesn't have many manners, and can never say anything nice. It's what you think of when people say... Stupid teenagers.

So in that respect, you cant say they are all alike. If I found a SOUND girl who was 18-19 or so, I would have no problem with dating her. Most of the time the maturity level is not there, and that's why older people dont have relationships with younger girls. At the age of 15-19 and everyone in that range dating one another, there is usually not too much of a difference.

It seems to be much less of a concern when you get older. If you're 30 dating a 21yr old, no one cares. If you are 43 and dating 33, no one cares. Usually around 25-30 and after you seem to no what is going on in life.

But you dont see 13yr olds dating 21yr olds.

If you're in high school and you're a freshman dating a senior, who cares. I did it when I was in high school, and no one even cared. In fact I dont think age ever even came up, nor did I think about it.

The main thing, is try to find someone on your level. I can say that there are 25yr olds out there (I took one out) who had no sense of life, and wanted to basically do nothing all her life though she was studying to be a nurse. This woman is not one you want to have a future with. I could find 18yr olds who had more direction than her.
