I think my sports drink has fructose in. I use it if im doing a lot of cardio. Its not cheap so if i can knock back a couple of bannanas post workout instead, then i will do that.

I started using whey protein, that stuff is immense! I love it! and at £16 for 900 grams its afordable, as 30 servings should last me over 3 weeks

Could just eat a few apples mate, they cost all of about 20p. Banana is a complex carb, it's no good. You want simple carbs.

oh yeah man. I was just explaining Glycogen in terms of muslce building, and how simple carbs will give an immediate boost to Glycogen levels.
True, but if you eat a bag of sugar... can you imagine how laaaaazzzzyyyy the insulin makes you?

More complex carb is better. Something like dextrose, or pasta and other starchy items that easily break down.

Yeah, if you eat it while it's still green. Ripe bananas are very sweet and sugary.

Surely you'd want simple carbs straight after a workout, to get your Glycogen levels up. Complex carbs are better the rest of the time, granted.

Hmm, I don't know about that. I used gatorade literally 5 minutes after the workout and it made me feel alot worse if I just drank some water. I guess I dont respond well to massive amounts of glucose.

Oh well, normal carbs for me then!

Whatever works for you dude.

My post-workout shake consists of:
40g whey
50g Dextrose

Then 1 hour later i'll have around 100g of basmati rice with meat/chciken/fish, vegetables, salad etc. Really if you want to have dextrose or not is up to you, but as long as you get your carbs in an hour after you train you're right.
