AFCs on our TVs

There is a documentary on tv here in the UK about an English family who moved to Tasmania, Australia.

There's a fifteen year old boy who met up with a local 15 year old chick called Nadine. Now I'm no paedophile but this chick did look very pretty and seemed to have the hots for this lad.

BUT THE GUY GOES TOTALLY AFC AND BLOWS IT!

He sent her a badly scrawled letter full of AFC crap like 'I am madly in love with you and totally infatuated, I think we would look really good together etc'.

Nadine gets the letter and I just CRINGED because I knew what was coming. I'm telling you that girl aged from a sweet 15 year old to a world weary 30 year old in seconds as she read his letter:

'Aw...he's a really nice guy...but I don't like him in that way. He's not my type - but I don't want to hurt his feelings!'

So I'm thinking, WHERE do boys learn this crap!? WHO tells them to pull this sh*t?

Then he mentioned having watched the film 'Romeo and Juliet' on tv.

Nuff said....

It's funny how every show withthout the superheroes: raymond, the english show with the dentist, the friends, the show with the latin girl and the mailman guy... (sorry, I don't remember the names)

The girls is always this shrewd calculating cold thing, and the guy can't even say no to her.

The shows on TV where you are going to see the biggest AFC's are elimedate and blind date. Hilarious. Last episode of elimidate I, the AFC was saying how he was old fashioned, wouldn't kiss on the first date, and how he was a momma's boy. The chick takes them to a bar where they could get a manicure while having a drink. The guy who was somewhat a dj, beside the fact that he was throwing out pre-canned lines was making out with the chick while the "mommas boy" AFC was getting his nails done because the girl asked him to. So funny.

TV and all of society is AFC

It's all over the place. TV is THE worst. Guys are always shown as AFC's, idiots, klutzes, everything but DJ. The woman is always so-called smarter and she can dish the insults, but if the guy fires back is an insensative a$$.

I posted earlier on how advice columns (written by women) tell men to dish out the flowers, jewelry, and tons and tons of compliments and you'll get the woman.

We (well, some of us) learned all of this sh-t from society, that is totally wrong. It's amazing that one of the most important things you can learn are the dynamics of DJism, and it's practically a hidden secret. Few guys know it. Even ****y ass-oles don't know DJism, it's a balance of confidence, class, and a complete ownership to yourself, not letting a woman dictate your emotions.

TV makes me gag, as do ads. Saw a Dodge Truck billboard in Seattle: "More reliable than most husbands." F-CK that! Heard an ad on the radio this morning trashing husbands ... it's incredible.

Society is AFC and the quicker you figure this out, the better you'll be. Don't follow society!

yep, fvcking hilarious. the guy didn't say a damn word except that in the interview after the end. I never thought that show was funny until I knew how AFC everyone of those mother fvckers are.

Last night I watched a show called 'Bring Back The A-Team' where they tracked down the old cast members (like VH1s Bands Reunited) and Dirk 'Faceman' Benedict said

'We were the the last masculine characters on TV. Everything now is so feminized and men are afraid to be men. We did what we wanted, ate when we wanted, shot guns when we wanted and a lot of women like to see that.'

There are still some alpha males on TV (the Sopranos, Smallville (debate), most cop shows) and there have always been AFC characters in fiction because the AFC has been around forever. But Faceman is basically right, there are fewer positive masculine images of men in drama these days.

The reason is that women have spending power so shows and ads must be aimed at them. Most finance ads portray the woman as a sane, responsible role-model and the man as a compliant buffoon, presumably because women are the ones making these decisions. And women get their kicks out of seeing men look stupid. Maybe they are insecure in this area, or maybe men are instinctively gallant/AFC because when an ad is aimed at us we are less likely to want to see a woman humiliated.

I would like to see a popular TV show address the current state of play in the battle of the sexes, much like Moonlighting or Cheers did in the eighties. Both shows had an alpha male struggling to deal with the post-feminist woman, and both were fair to the male sex. In the 90s the paradigm was Friends' Ross & Rachel and you could argue that the AFCness of Ross was promoted as normal along with the idea that wet men like Ross and Chandler would be able to get hotties like Rachel and Monica in the first place. Their love rivals on that show were usually ultra-alpha though.

And I'm not even going to start on Sex In The City.

I'd like to see something like a TV version of Swingers, with witty, articulate non-AFC characters that have a good understanding of women that could present a lot of the points commonly addressed at this site. The female point of view could be argued equally fairly. And it would have a wise-cracking robot. You know, for the kids.

Guys promise me something. When you get an influential position somewhere in the future, like politics or TV please spread the word about the truth. We must destroy the AFC in our popular culture.

Alot of the studio executives, producers, directors, and writers of these movies and TV shows are AFC's themselves.

They enjoy watching some AFC guy having a bangin girlfriend or wife because that was their fantasy (at least until they got rich or famous enough to attract women with their bank accounts).

I actually found some of the relationships that they were in to be quite accurate. Big, for example, is constantly showing that he doesn't give a damn, but Carrie still likes him. Now admittedly, that isn't true DJism, he is to flaky for example, but there are aspects of it.

ahhh, this is a revolutionary plan muhahahaha! I thought about this myself a while back when I first discovered this site. Its selfish, but hey! Less competition is always a good thing.
