i recently had to do a speech with my group at uni... im usually good at these things, and can get the whole class laughing and stuff, but anyways at uni i totally messed up... i got up their, introduced my group with loads of energy and stuff, and then i started reading my script and my head totally went blank... so then as i read i kept missing bits out and shakey voice and my throat went dry.. my hands also started shaking... but the worst if it was that i kept on stopping for like 20 seconds at a time just trying to read the sheet... anyways that was it.. i got a crappy grade... but afterwards we had this lecture that explains how to do a professional speech infront of people and here is what i got from it..
- allways prepare and rehearse your speech
thats what i am, im always prepared
- talk SLOWLY and often stop talking for a few seconds (after a sentence) this will get teh audiences attention and make you look confident
i have tried that once, and everytime but its just that when people look at me i start to get comfortable as i said
- use your hands allot... if you dont know what to do with your hands then put them behind your back
its kinda hard cuz my hands are STuck at the paper or in my pocket if i dont have or on the desk if i have it in front of me
- pretend taht the audience is full of 12 year old kids... so this way you are not over complicating things for them and you are not intimidated (this is the best advice)
nice, i will try that
- eye contact with all of the audience
Im struggle so bad at that its tehre were im feeling unconfotable
