For those who find it odd that someone with a prestigious background lives in such a regular place, I feel compelled to point out that this weekend the cops found a bunch of squatters in my neighborhood - roughly 20 kids living in a 2-family house. You'd think they would all be drug addict losers, but it turns out that most of them are "trustifarians" - rich little momma's boys who live in the lap of luxury, but think its cool to be "street". I see a lot of people with serious cash living under such circumstances that you'd never suspect their net worth!

As for my neighbors - I still have not heard anything from them in days now. Seems like they are on vacation and the silence is very much welcome, albeit maddening. I can't stop thinking about that poor kid, and all I can do is pray that she's alright.

I personally feel you are between a rock and a hard place no doubt and I won't dispute your claims here on the forum but my gut tells me regardless of what law protects this dipsh*t and what laws you break to save this little girl from abuse and evidence shows it is in effect abuse a court of law in the states would overturn it and public opinion would support your efforts and I would be the first on the list.

You also have a right to the quiet enjoyment of your place by the way regardless of who your neighbors are that is if you signed a lease or an agreement prior to moving in.

Keep us updated.

**UPDATE**

No way in the world I could have seen this coming. Still in shock and trying to process what has happened.

After weeks of silence from the neighbors. I heard some movement on Wednesday night. There were no arguments, no violence - just typical sounds you'd expect from normal neighbors.

"Are these new people?" I wondered

Yesterday I got a knock on the door. I open it and much to my surprise it's Mr. Wifebeater himself asking if he can come in. Dumbfounded I just gesture him in and he starts talking.

Dude: First of all I would like to give you my humble apologies for everything that has happened. I am an alcoholic and currently in a program to fix this and part of the process is asking forgiveness. I now realize how difficult I have made your life and for that I am terribly sorry. It will not happen again.

Me: ...

Dude: Secondly I'd like to give thanks for acting out the way you did. When you hear something from people you love its funny but you almost ignore it. But hearing it from a total stranger, in such a blunt manner was a real wake-up call. I don't know if I would have checked myself in unless you had intervened. Seriously, thank you

Me: ... you're welcome? (still unsure whether this was a joke or not)

We talked a little bit more, but he could tell I felt shocked and a bit awkward so he left me there swimming in my own thoughts. All that time they were away he joined AA or some other program to deal with his drinking (which I found ironic considering muslims can't drink.) I was hesitant to post this as I almost thought this was a trick. But so far there have not been any incidents, which is HUGE considering they fought every damn night. I even hear the daughter laughing for the first time, and a massive weight has been lifted off my chest (this has really been bugging me the last couple of weeks)

Morale of the story - never stay quiet or ignore this type of sh*t. Even if it's uncomfortable or difficult to face, it's your responsibility as a citizen and human being to show zero tolerance for violence and injustice. Not enough people stick their necks out and that's why this BS is so common.

BTW, I mentioned in passing this incident to a girl I been trying to get with. She's been showing a lot of initial resistance, but we finally hooked up the same night I told her this story. I reckon that being a man who is willing to protect the innocent is a total aphrodisiac for women.

This whole thing has me in the best of moods - I had to share. Thanks to everyone who has posted/PMed their support.

Haha that is truly amazing, we can all learn ALOT from all this. Not only that we must always stand up to bullies and protect the weak, but also that no person is incapable of redemption

Also Razor, you should be really proud of yourself, as your actions potentially saved this child's life, and you've given her a chance to have a decent upbringing. If I ever meet you I'm buying you a drink

Oh that's really good to hear, I was thinking about this the other day wondering what had happened since, thanks for updating. And well done again for what you did, it's pretty incredible the impact you've made on the family and the little girl's childhood.
