It's kind of odd that you'd be hired straight off as IT... usually those spots are for people who have been there for a while and know what they're doing - aka 'vets'. Here's what you'll be doing... putting sensor tags on new merchandise, folding it, then either sticking it in the stock room or putting it out on the floor. If they've already got people doing shipment, or if it's finished, you'll more than likely be on the floor either putting out clothes (especially for an update or new floor set... whichever the daily Crombie says). The "Impact Team" rollout last year replaced all stock positions. You won't make more than anybody else, but you'll work a lot harder. Brand Reps will be on the floor greeting and helping people, and you'll be the one putting the stuff where it belongs.
As for working there in general, expect to have a blast. All of the stores I know of are pretty tightly-knit, with parties every weekend and groups of people from the store going out to different clubs. After you've worked there a while, you won't be able to walk into a bar or club and not know a handful of people there. The environment is pretty laid back, since it's a 'fun' job for everybody... don't expect to see your manager out with you a lot, as home office has rules against managers associating with brand reps/impact team outside of work - sometimes the rule is ignored, most of the time it's not. Same goes for dating - unless the district manager has been given word (and its a serious relationship), brand reps are off-limits. Not that this has ever stopped anybody from banging every girl there, but rules are made to be broken.
Let's see.. what else comes to mind at short notice... every year you'll be evaluated for a raise; either you're 'satisfactory', 'unsatisfactory', or 'rocks'. Satisfactory means you're eligible for the raise at HO's discretion. Unsat means you aren't. 'Rocks' can only be given to one person in the store, and is a guaranteed raise. Oh, before you get too excited the raise is a whole $0.25. Most of your paycheck will go to buying new clothes - you get 30% off as a BR. Managers get 40%. You can make 3 gift purchases, but most managers don't care if you go over that. With each new floor set you get 3 optional AAA's, 50% off of 3 items designated by HO. At first you won't be getting hardly any hours - depending on the store's tier (A is a New York sized store, B is a New Orleans sized one, C would be smaller than that, D does the lowest volume of them all). Umm... I can't think of anything offhand, if you've got any specific questions just ask and I'll be glad to give some input (after 3 years with the company there's not much I don't know...)
Oh yeah, forgot about your last question - don't worry about getting yelled at for trying to hook up with girls walking around in the store. Everyone does it, it's encouraged, and if you don't then people are going to think you're weird... or gay.
