Hello everyone. I'm going to start working at A&F on Tuesday as an impact team member. I want to know if anyone who has worked there or any other retail store(s) can give me any sort of advice of what to expect.
(Thanks in advance)

I might try hollering at some females there. Now I have another question, should how should I try to get with girls who shop there without getting yelled at by my manager?

I love my father. He was such a Don Juan. He recalled back in the late 50's or early 60's when he worked at one of the classiest shoe stores.

Despite what anyone might say about "sexual harassment" these days... back then people were just as sensative to professional environments. ESPECIALLy about customers.

My father would always help the fine looking lady's and use his natural charm and ability to schedule dates with them. You're a DJ, grow some balls, have some funny lines... maybe not ****y (@ work), and you'll get good feedback...

How many times have you walked into a store and you feel like the people that work there are mindless drones! DJ's ARENT mindless drones. They are Alpha Males with big balls! Now have fun!

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

It's kind of odd that you'd be hired straight off as IT... usually those spots are for people who have been there for a while and know what they're doing - aka 'vets'. Here's what you'll be doing... putting sensor tags on new merchandise, folding it, then either sticking it in the stock room or putting it out on the floor. If they've already got people doing shipment, or if it's finished, you'll more than likely be on the floor either putting out clothes (especially for an update or new floor set... whichever the daily Crombie says). The "Impact Team" rollout last year replaced all stock positions. You won't make more than anybody else, but you'll work a lot harder. Brand Reps will be on the floor greeting and helping people, and you'll be the one putting the stuff where it belongs.

As for working there in general, expect to have a blast. All of the stores I know of are pretty tightly-knit, with parties every weekend and groups of people from the store going out to different clubs. After you've worked there a while, you won't be able to walk into a bar or club and not know a handful of people there. The environment is pretty laid back, since it's a 'fun' job for everybody... don't expect to see your manager out with you a lot, as home office has rules against managers associating with brand reps/impact team outside of work - sometimes the rule is ignored, most of the time it's not. Same goes for dating - unless the district manager has been given word (and its a serious relationship), brand reps are off-limits. Not that this has ever stopped anybody from banging every girl there, but rules are made to be broken.

Let's see.. what else comes to mind at short notice... every year you'll be evaluated for a raise; either you're 'satisfactory', 'unsatisfactory', or 'rocks'. Satisfactory means you're eligible for the raise at HO's discretion. Unsat means you aren't. 'Rocks' can only be given to one person in the store, and is a guaranteed raise. Oh, before you get too excited the raise is a whole $0.25. Most of your paycheck will go to buying new clothes - you get 30% off as a BR. Managers get 40%. You can make 3 gift purchases, but most managers don't care if you go over that. With each new floor set you get 3 optional AAA's, 50% off of 3 items designated by HO. At first you won't be getting hardly any hours - depending on the store's tier (A is a New York sized store, B is a New Orleans sized one, C would be smaller than that, D does the lowest volume of them all). Umm... I can't think of anything offhand, if you've got any specific questions just ask and I'll be glad to give some input (after 3 years with the company there's not much I don't know...)

Oh yeah, forgot about your last question - don't worry about getting yelled at for trying to hook up with girls walking around in the store. Everyone does it, it's encouraged, and if you don't then people are going to think you're weird... or gay.

I work at Anchor Blue (used to be Miller's Outpost), and I'm a wizard on the floor.

Basically, you greet everyone in the area you're responsible for, and ask them with a smile if you can help them find anything, or if they are looking for anything in particular. If they don't speak english, and they're looking around, ask them "are you OK", cuz that's super easy to understand.

When girls come around, be the same with them, but keep an eye on them to see if they're looking at you. Sometimes they misinterpret customer service as "hitting on them", but that's mostly for younger girls who don't know anything. Be friendly, make conversation.

People walk in your zone with a big bag, ask: "ooh you brought me a present?!" and then grin.

Some girl is chekcing out a shirt or jeans in the mirror, and be like "YEAH!" and give them two thumbs up with a smile.

I like to wear colorful backpacks that are on sale and I often get people to buy them.

Don't GET girl's numbers on the floor, give them yours and a time to call you. That way, you're not advancing on them, and you can honestly say "I didn't ask for her number or anything like that" in case anything happens.

Work is a great place to meet girls, but you're even luckier... you get all the FINE ASS white girls with the short skirts and stuff, and I'm stuck with the 30 year old spanish speaking families... haha

I wouldn't mind working there OR at Express for men anyday or time of the week. Question though, Did you get the job through a person you know that already works there?

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.

Most of those links in the threads have changed as I replaced them with different pictures (i.e. '10.jpg' used to be something then became something else, etc...)

Here are some directories that are still active on my site... I haven't stopped going out, just stopped bringing my camera with me unless it's something eventful.

I just went into the store asked if they were hiring and filled out an application that was my second time ever going into the store. I don't know anyone who works there prior getting the job.

They didn't have a computer kiosk with the application software on it?

What month? I've got about 2 gigs of A&F music on my computer - as well as the "in-store only DVD's" they used to loop on the TV's in the store. In theory (since doing this is illegal), you could sell them (custom DVD's with all of the music as mp3's and the DVD's as .iso's) for $9.99 to people who love A&F and make a huge profit... not that I've ever made nearly $500 doing that, but it's theoretically possible... :p

Out of curiosity Diablo (and not to knock anyone or shops or works there) but what exactly is the obesession with Abercrombie & Fitch? It seems to be one of the few mall stores that have a cult following.
