Before this forum was overrun with trolls and keyboard jockeys posing as players, it was a place where guys could come and seek help and motivation and learn from each others' experiences.

It's not just about getting laid. Guys have come here suffering serious depression, social anxiety and a range of disorders that have made their lives a misery. There have even been guys on the verge of suicide and found help here.

You might think it is fun to troll this forum or assume some internet persona of a great player, but you underestimate the value of this forum and you are destroying a positive and free resource that is here to help people who need it. There have been some good guys here and positive role models, but they're getting sick of this trolling and posing crap and leaving this board behind.

I can only assume that if you have enough free time to waste by dragging this forum down, you don't lead a worthwhile life. This forum is here to help guys like you.

If you aren't interested in learning and improving please find another forum to troll. At the very least, you can troll with style and humour and give us a good laugh instead filling the forums with obnoxious nonsense.

I think they should reconsider who should be mods, because the ones that are mods now clearly cant handle it, they should make mods out of someone who is online more.

I agree with Jariel. There was a case a few years back where a member of this forum (with depression) wrote a suicide note on here. Some people's problems go a lot deeper than approach anxiety, and I'm willing to bet dreamxhenry is one of those cases.

Hey Skippy can you tell your split personality Dreamy-X-Hen to come out and play, I think he's had a long cry and its time to play Mr. Punchbag coz he takes it so well.... like a lil girlie..

A troll cannot be reasoned with, or their better nature appealed to. It is a game, and any response is a victory, any attention good, including this.

A well-crafted flame or skillful troll can be a beautiful thing, and to give this/these guys credit they certainly know how to bait their threads with provocatively titled threads and hit many buttons with their faux-AFC problems. Experienced members should be able to spot them quickly, but there are enough others willing to bite that the ignore option won't work.

If this was a movie site (I am trolling AICN as I type) it would be all fun and games, but as Jariel says, some of the people that come here for help are in a desperate, occasionally suicidal state. I would welcome a new moderator - Jariel or Shezz are both fine by me - who can spot this crap early and deal with it.

Shezz for moderator.

I don't think it's all the trolls fault. There are really very few good posts made anymore and I think we're all to blame for that. The trolls are merely filling in the spaces left by the rest of us who post nothing of quality besides field reports and lay reports. And even those don't give much insight into DJ philosophies besides tricks and techniques. I hope they'll be a new generation Pook to come around soon but it's not likely, the atmosphere around here has definitly changed because we didn't do enough to preserve the old one, we let these trolls get to us and that's what they feed off. Just ignore them.

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

It's always been full of keyboard jockeys... thats why theres so much mixed information on the boards. If you are new around here, stick to the DJ Bible.

Anyways, nice to see you're still hanging around here, Dirtheart.

Yeah, I'd like to see Shezz as a moderator too. I recall Godsgifttowomen asking to be a moderator some time ago. Would have been a good choice and he had a lot of backing, but it never happened.

Jariel, I do agree with you.

I've tossed around the idea of a new forum, invite-only, where the trolls and KBJs can be weeded out. An "Accredited DJ" sub-forum of sorts. Someone has to vouch for you in order for you to get to post there.

I don't really post anywhere other than H&F now, due in part to the trolls and KBJs....but trolls and KBJs venture there from time to time, too.
Which is tolerable to me, I guess. A lot less people frequent the H&F, and I can tell just by looking at the author of the post whether or not it's going to have any value.
I also relegate myself to the H&F forum since I don't really have anything of value to share in the other areas here.

SOO many trolls here right now!

I think there should be a troll list stickied to one of the forums.

Someone has already attempted that, but the forum was dull and very few people posted there. I think that as much as we hate the trolls they give us a great example of what not to do. This is a common problem when a community grows; you get alot of inexperiece non-battle tested guys that think they know the game, and even if they have a clue they dont understand the DJ community culture, so they end up 'flipping their lid,' making enemies.

I think that the most powerful tool we have is not responding. There are a couple of guys who have a new PIMP post everyday in the main forum, there intentions might be great, but their message falls on deaf ears, and they end up looking like KBJ's.

Maybe we should buy the forum and run it as a collective:rockon: At least we could get the lame *** advice off of the front page:nono:
