it's not terrible if she's rambling on about how great she is

but it really depends on context

you don't say that to a cool good looking HB that's being warm to you (for example)

You brought yourself up by putting her down. Not good. Instead, you could have said "You do look great and I would love to spend some time with you to see what we have in common, how about coffee at 12:00?" If she says, yes, you're in, if she says no, then you know she wasn't worth it anyway.

By saying what you said, you are not learning or gaining anything except bringing her down a few pegs for a day or two.
