This is the three-year old pic, but everything is roughly similar.
Short and sweet. 1/8" on the beard and lower burns, 1/4" on the sides and upper burns, 3/8" on top. You cut it yourself, and it always looks crisp and neat. You'll need a cheap set of clippers, a cheap plastic barbers comb, and a barbers scissors. Watch a youtube video on blending and it shouldn't be to hard to pick up on. When in doubt, cut less, evaluate, then cut more if needed. My hair naturally spikes out until gravity weighs it down, sort of like a static field. But if you need it, a bit of gel would do wonders.
While I would advise rocking a sweet ass beard, it is a personal choice that can be made only by you. I have a boxy, squarish mesomorph head structure, so I grew it to round out my leno chin and political cartoon esque jawline. Without it, I look like Stan from American Dad. It works for me, so I rock it. Besides, chicks dig a rugged beard as long as it's clean looking.
