Sup dudes, I recently watched 500 days of summer. I was wondering what are the don juanian ideas about this movie? Also How hot is Zooey deschanel, lol. But seriously, I think this movie is worthy is at least some mild discussion.

Very good movie, I liked the style in which it was shot.

*Spoilers*

But the movie is hardly "Don Juanian". The main character spends a full 1/3 to 1/2 of the movie trying to get over his girl even with all his friends and family trying to convince him to snap out of it. The only thing Don Juan is the guy's sister who tells him to remember the bad times as well as the good times so he can get over her as quick as possible. And the ending where he picks up a chick randomly, almost cold apporaching.

*Spoiler End*

A really awesome movie though.

I recently watched this movie too and liked it.

Summer reminded me of a girl I casually dated that didn't want anything serious and who didn't seem to have much of the normal girl emotion.

The biggest lesson I saw was when a girl says she doesn't want anything serious. What she really means is that she doesn't want anything serious with you.

In the movie Summer said she didn't want anything serious and then BAM next guy she dates she decided to marry.

Other lesson is that it is difficult if you develop feelings for a girl and she doesn't have the same feelings for you.

So if you want something serious and she doesn't, then you have a big problem.

So maybe the lesson is not to fall for a girl until she develops feelings for you first.

Glad you mentioned that. There ARE a lot of movies these days that socially condition guys to be complete pu$$ies. Nonetheless, I did enjoy this movie. But the only thing I learned from the lead character is what NOT to do.

I dunno i felt that theres alot of **** I learnt from that movie.

Lead a relationship, or else dont enter one.

Innocent girls are freaks in bed.

Shes probably not that great.

Notice when hes on alcohol, he was so much more liberating and thus, got the girls attention.

****, so much analysis, im becoming a sociopath

I can think of a much more Don Juan-ian movie co-starring Zooey Deschanel, Yes Man. It didn't have a profound life-changing effect on me, but any time after that when I was questioning whether to stay home or go out and do something, I immediately chose to go out.

decided to dig this thread up...whatever, here's my take

Tom's head is filled with fairytale bull****...good well meaning guy who feels as though he's gonna meet "the one" in some dramatic our eyes met across a crowded room moment. He foolishly puts Summer on a podium.

Summer...im my eyes...is just flat out boring. She has no edge to her, she's cold, but not in a cold calculating way, just emotionally distant and is still bearing the scars of her parents divorce.

Both of them are just typical wannabee "indie" losers. And I can't sympathize with either

Cause he's too much of a Pus$y to have confidence. I learned when I drink a lot.. yea it's easier for me to walk up to girls but the conversation isn't as successful because it's not as genuine. You can tell when someone is drinking a lot when theyobviously start to slurrrrr a little while speaking. I noticed this in myself while speaking with a very attractive girl I managed to start talking to at a bar but was too inhibriated to seal the deal.

Anymore I go out and buy one drink and talk to the girls.. It's so much more fun listening to them soundling like slurring idiots than me. I have much more success when I don't use alcohol as a confidence booster.

edit: GAy.. I just saw this post is over 2 yrs old.. well just in case S.U.R.F comes back ;)

Pretty good movie and very relatable. It was a learning lesson for the main character and most of us guys at some point where in a similar situation to him. We really like a girl...she doesn't feel exactly the same way...you over analyze every little detail...friends try to help you...you don't listen...end up getting crushed...but in the end realize you have to move on because something betters out there. You could then either break the mold of what you have been doing or repeat the pattern. Let's hope for his sake and ours we move on.

I know you're supposed to judge women by actions and not words but there are some things women tell you that you have to listen to and head their warning.

In the movie, Summer tells him how she doesn't believe in love, or getting married or whatever.

He took that as a challenge to prove to her that it does exist and whatnot, and fell for her and ended up getting destroyed.

When girls say things like, "i don't believe in love", "i'll only end up hurting you", "you deserve better", "i'm not as perfect as you think i am", etc etc, they are straight up giving you warnings, while at the same time, disregarding responsibility for their actions.

if you refuse to listen to those words and she ends up screwing you over, then she'll say something like "i told you i would end up hurting you"

don't let your ego get the best of you. there are some things that women tell you that once you hear it, you need to take their advice and move on.

a regular dude hears "i don't believe in love" and says whoa, this chick has issues, i'm moving on. an afc hears it and says "what? this delicate flower of a being doesn't believe in love?? i will prove to her it exists! i will give her the world! i will be her first love!"

no dude

Summer Finn is a deranged lunatic and no man should go anywhere near such a damaged woman.

I'd rather place my penis inside a blender while the blade is active then go anywhere near such a deranged woman.
