Ok since I am lazy I watched the movie instead of reading the book. And since the movie wasn't mindblowing I probably won't read it. But the movie was good, I am confused about some things.

It's on google video by the way.

Who is the guy that takes Winston and reeducates him?

In the prison he says, "they got you too" or something like that, what does that mean?

Who is Obrian?

He says something at the end like "I am the few" maybe. What did he say and what did it mean.

What is the inner party, outer party, and the proletarians?

I know reading the book would probably answer all of these, but that's what you people are for.

Read the book, don't be a dolt.

And why are you reading 1984? That's a book for high school AP English...

The book is actually really, really good. Like, really good. It's up there with Harry Potter. And yes, I am being serious. Harry Potter and 1984 are both good ass books.

cuz it's old, yet very good and influential. Once you read it, you'll know. Analyze what he says and you'll see why I approve of the book for high school studies. Especially in a time like ours.

BTW the book is TONS better than the movie. In the movie they added emphasis on the love story and reduced the main struggle from the book. That plus the fact that you can't describe things in a movie like you can in a book (unless you make it a hundred hours long) make the book artwork while the movie is a simple flick.

Read it :)

PS: thanks bible, I was actually looking for Animal Farm :)

Oh yeah I'm reading the book, about a sixth of the way in. I haven't read a fiction book in years. The stuff the movie lacked, that I knew it was lacking when I was watching is nice to have, mainly details and explanations of things.

What's Brave New World about and who wrote it?

Brave New World is about a futuristic, one world government, programmed and test tube baby born society. It was written by Aldous Huxley

I'd actually recommend reading it. George Orwell is one of my favourite authors. That along with 'Animal Farm' are a few of my favourite books (and I don't even like reading).

Do not read the book. It's a top secret government document that only the privildged have access to, as it incovers secrets in what you believe is currently a democracy, but in reality, the thought police is right around the corner waiting to arrest you or anyone who reads this book. The real ruler is Big Brother. The war in Iraq was staged, as was 9/11, to help reduce civil liberties and strengthen Big Brother - and you have Guantanomo Bay which is code named 'The Ministry of Truth'. The purpose is not to torture terrorists as people believe, but to re-educate them and teach them to love George Bush and to worship him before they execute them. This book is currently banned and if you have access to it, you too risk being labeled a terrorist to Big Brother and sent there for re-education.

Just joking. It's a good book. At a time where sex is outlawed because it's an expression of human emotion that's only preserved for the underclass and where you could be tortured and sent to jail for indulging in lustful behaviour.
The relationship between Julia and Winston is interesting. It reminds me that I meet online someone from adultfriendfinder two years ago also named Julia who may have deflowered me and rescued me from my perpetual virginity and sexual repression, but my parents stopped me from seeing her. It was a test, but I remained true to the ideals of Big Brother and remained a virgin. Never again will I tow the party line and will remain faithful to the interests of this reguime. So, remember, Big Brother is watching you. Ignorance is Bliss.

Brave New World is marvelous as well. What do you think of Fahrenheit 451? Logan's Run? Rand's Magnum Opus?

I've only read Fahrenheit 451 out of those and it is one of my favorites.
