I would say based on talking to strippers and former strippers in a real setting. All of them "do" something and it's mainly to help them get through their job. So the main culprit is excessive alcohol consumption, most strippers can drink every man on Sosuave under the table. A lot of them however do consume hard drugs. Problem is strippers actually have a license to strip and when they renew they have to be drug free conviction free it's why many don't last long.

I don't believe there have been any scientific studies done on the subject. However, based on anecdotal evidence, Mauser's statement is more right than wrong. They may not be street walkers but many of them will escort, especially if the stripper business is slow and they need the cash. Many will also sleep with drug dealers for drugs, which is basically a form of prostitution as well. Sure, you will occasionally find strippers who do not fit that mould (i.e. a college student stripping to pay her rent/tuition) but they are exceptions rather than the rule. Bottom line is, most strippers are trash.
