No, asymptomatic viral shedding can happen any time, although it does decrease over the years following initial outbreak. Read the link I posted.
an outbreak is the fastest way to spread it.dot said:So are you saying, the only time that you can catch it when they don't have an outbreak, is in the initial 2 week period of them catching it?
None of those. It looks like a pimple and its isolated, no other bumps are around it. Im getting a physical tomorrow so ill have them check it out.penkitten said:do you have a fever?
do you have swollen lymph nodes?
did the bump begin as a hard knot under the skin, that rose up, and now looks like a single chicken pox?
does is ache in horrible pain?
if you answered no to all of those, i bet it is just an ingrown hair or boil.
which every one gets at one point or another.
True, but a good rough estimate is to figure that if 70% of people caught it with no symptoms present, then a person with herpes is contagious without showing symptoms 70% of the time, and that person shows symptoms 30% of the time.penkitten said:an outbreak is the fastest way to spread it.
no one knows how often you can catch it from assymtomatic shedding or not having an outbreak at the time, but they do say it can happen.
an infected ingrown hair can look like a zit and sting a little when touched.oakraiderz2 said:None of those. It looks like a pimple and its isolated, no other bumps are around it. Im getting a physical tomorrow so ill have them check it out.

you must pop the white part out, eww
then use clean tweezers to dig the hair out.
sometimes they are a pain in the azz.
so no matter what it depends on our ability to read them. wow. and even then they might not even know about it.MDgood said:True, but a good rough estimate is to figure that if 70% of people caught it with no symptoms present, then a person with herpes is contagious without showing symptoms 70% of the time, and that person shows symptoms 30% of the time.
It's like if they show symptoms (open oozing genital lesions) 4 days out of the month, then they're actually shedding 4/30%, or 13 to 14 days out o the month. You hook up once with a girl like that and you risk a 50% chance of being exposed to the virus (though not actually a 50% chance of catching it).dot said:so no matter what it depends on our ability to read them. wow. and even then they might not even know about it.
any mucuous membrane so that means kissing too.
