Ever since I was, I dunno(?) ..12, I've drank coffee virtually, everyday. Decided to quit it, as I did with smoking. Here's what I can tell you after 1 week...

I sleep better at night.
I wake up feeling MORE awake than I did after drinking 4 cups of joe.
I substituted, with green tea... for the time being.

That is good. it is tough to stay of caffeine, but after awhile you normally feel better.

I've quit off and on for a few years, I really need to stay off it for heartburn reasons. In particular regular coffee gives me killer heartburn.

Ironically espresso is a little less hard on me, probably because I either get a cafe americano (where more water is added) or add milk to it.

I've thought about this.

I have very healthy eating habits but coffee is definately a crutch for me.

I typically have 10oz in the morning (5am) and another 24oz in the middle of the day.

What was your coffee intake like?

I've had coffee three times in my life. The first 2 times it gave me the runs, and the last one I felt like **** all day and couldn't stop shaking. It also tastes terrible. Like smoking, I've never really understood why people get into this habit

I drink about three pints of very strong coffee every morning for the past fifteen years or so. If I skip it, I never really wake up for the day.

Health research on coffee is actually very positive:
http://men.webmd.com/features/coffee-new-health-food

It lowers your risk of Parkinson's dramatically, as well as helps prevent diabetes. Studies of coffee's effect on children in Brazil show no adverse effects. Americans eat so few vegetables that the majority of antioxidants in the average American diet come from coffee.

Obviously, green tea is very healthy as well, but I don't think there's anything unhealthy about coffee, at least not that science has discovered yet.

8-16 cups a day bro.

I feel great. Surprised that I don't miss it. No cravings, no headaches, nothing.

Smoking, and drinking were tough, but coffee was the beast of burden. I tried to quit before, but never thought green tea would substitute well enough. It did.

I've never drank coffee in my entire life. A little morning exercise will give you energy for the whole day. Also try subbing with plain water instead of tea as tea still has caffeine.

Coffee is good in little amounts as long as it's not used as a crutch all the time, like anything else. Like this morning, in order to study and go to school extremely early, I reward myself with a cup, it's only necessary.

I drink coffee for the flavor. At work it's either coffee or water and the coffee is free.

I've been mixing a few supplements and a scoop of protein into the coffee in the morning. It's a nice delivery system since the coffee taste covers everything else. I like coffee. I just drink it plain. You won't see me drinking any speciality garbage at places like starbucks.

Caffeine's life differs for people, but i don't have any past noon.

Caffeine is the world's cheapest fat-burner. I love my coffee, and I sleep fine.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with a daily large cup of coffee.
Care to explain/link to some evidence for that? Sounds interesting.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

Caffeine is a stimulant which pretty much be definition makes it increase energy expenditure.

Remember that individual response to different drugs varies wildly. Some will have no problems with coffee, others will.

maybe this is why I like it

Drinking coffee cuts alcohol's harmful effects

Just a cup a day helps prevent cirrhosis of the liver, researchers say

A large study found that one cup of coffee per day cut the risk of alcoholic cirrhosis by 20 percent. Four cups per day reduced the risk by 80 percent.

I wish i could quit coffee i'ver tried and i get terrible headaches and i get into an awful mood and start fights with my loved ones. Its like the biggest down ever. I don't have that much but i still think its too much. I have a big mug in the mornign with lowfat milk and 2 spoons of sugar. Then i have to have my afternoon cup by at least 3 or 4pm or else the headache and irritibatilty sets in. The afternoon cdup is big tho its usually a medium dunkin donuts. Occasionally ill have 3 cups but id say most days just the 2 big cups. But i dunno i am totally convinced it causes my acne and oily skin from the research ive done online and just from personal experience. I also have heard caffeine causes premature ejaculation which i have had someissues with in the past couple yrs at times. And it takes me a long time to sleep at night. That beign said i am rarely constipated and i prob burn alot of fat

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

It's how I roll. Just because it stimulates one aspect of your nervous system, doesn't mean it will cause extra calorie expenditure.

And to Espi - the motto I hold in life: "Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense."

I wasn't doubting, quite the opposite. It makes sense as stimulants mean more energy. But that may just be false logic to conclude you burn more energy by drinking it. Maybe you lose weight because you are more active and eat less, but the actual act of having caffeine in you may or may not do anything to your metabolic rate.

Google it already.

GODDAMN next you'll be questioning if aspirin helps with headaches and show you the studies.

Some stuff doesn't need discussed. It's already well established.

I really need to get caught up on throttling teenagers. I'm well behind.

"it's how i roll"

WTF does that even mean? You can't just say random phrases and everyone is supposed to go "ohhh yeah that makes sense now" and ignore that how you operate is dumb.
