When did you guys decide to take the plunge and shave your heads? I have been experiencing thinning hair now for probably about 7-8 years. I have had a spot on the back of my head that has slowly been thinning more and more and increasing in surface area. I still have plenty of hair at the very front and on the sides, and if you are looking at me directly in the face you wouldn't know I was balding.

Recently, a friend of mine took a group photo that had me facing away and slightly from above. I was somewhat surprised by how bald I am getting in the back and the surface area has definitely increased. From above, it is definitely noticeable that I am heading towards being a baldy.

I am just getting out of an LTR that I have been in for the previous 3.5 years. This spot is definitely thinner/bigger than it was back in 2021 when I was gaming women. From my research, most men immediately feel better as soon as they make the plunge. It seems that most women also don't care. But I do want to appeal to as many as I can once I am fully back in the game. I am just hesitating because it is going to be a drastically different look for me than what I am used to. Some guys have told me to leave what I have as shaving will make me look older (I would say I overall look young for 38 -- I am in good shape as I workout every day and watch what I eat). Others have said I have a good head shape and will look better than having the large thinning area on the top.

When/why did you decide to take the plunge? Or if you haven't, why not?

You might not need to shave your head over it.

You might be able to address that balding spot from either platelet rich plasma injections or a hair transplant to cover the spot. Have you fully researched those options yet?

I was 29.
I actually think one looks older not when he's shaved his head but when he has thinning hair, bald patches, signs of unsuccessful hair implant etc. Not necessarily on a conscious level, but subconsciously, it's ingrained in our biology to associate thin/white hair with ageing/health problems.

I think that if at 38yrs old you're afraid that shaving will hurt your attractiveness, you have bigger issues (ie self esteem) than hair loss. :zip:

Unless you have a metalhead length hair, I´d say just go for it and see how you like it. We had to shave our heads in the army and it took about a month or two before it grew back. If you don’t like it, you can try the treatments available. However, research finasteride side effects very carefully (and with doctor) if you decide to go that route. You can pull off a badass look if you are in good shape and have muscle. On a positive side you might stop worrying about it. Don’t let this consume you become self conscious. I’m sure you will be fine.

I have a huge bald spot. I’m rocking a #1 buzz right now, so I’m nearly (but not completely) bald. I’m much older than you so it’s a gray buzz unfortunately. Buzz is probably fine for a younger guy who still has his natural hair color.

If I go on vacation or attempt pickup again, I can and will easily shave it clean to erase the gray.

I have not tried full bald yet.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.

No - honestly I would probably just prefer to embrace it rather than that route. I am not looking to try to do any type of "cover up" whether its something as you describe or more basic.

I am guessing I would be attractive to women bald or close to. It is more just me needing to pull the trigger and see how it looks. I have never had my hair in that style. Definitely not "metalhead" but when younger I had it grown out and as an adult have generally worn it in a certain style -- a major contract from being completely bald.

Have you tried Rogaine?

Before shaving it off, consult a doctor and try finastride and minoxidil. Worked really well for me. Give it a year.

I started shaving my hair off 15yrs ago due to receeding hair line. Never looked back. Its been great. I do have a good shaped head so it was an easy decision. A lot of women say I look like Chris Daughtry.

There is a segment of women that really likes guys with shaved heads.

If you decide to do it, Wahl makes a special balding clipper to get your hair super short.
This is kind of where I want to be. Last year I was starting to flirt with the idea and had it very short a few times. But I’m thinking going shorter than that and really just embracing the bald/shaved head look.

Im black and started balding from the crown of my head at around 25 yrs old. I am dark skin so I can get away with shaving it all off. I shaved it all off at around 30.

I assume that you are white. You can do it too. You just have to keep facial hair like a goatee. Oh btw getting jacked helps with the look.

Yes - I am white. And I haven't ever worn a beard/goatee but suppose I could experiment. I think I would look fine with a shaved/bald head. Black men definitely are more natural at pulling the look off. I am a more darkly complected guy which should help.

Started balding in my 20s it runs in my family, by 26 due to a lot of stress (lost my job in the middle of the 2010 recession) I started shaving my head full time, I use razor on special occasions but usually electric does well too, if I let it grow to much which I sometimes do when I'm in "work mode"(not going out at all, just focused on work) it looks like a tupee that Is halfway on usually I then shave it.

Balding is just a natural thing. If you look at it positively, it can become a trait that enhances your masculinity. The best theory I've heard said that it's a sign you have Tom's of testosterone inside of you..

Sport a well groomed beard

Put extra emphasis on your physical appearance. Get broad shoulders.

Work on your hat game.

Talk to your doctor ( although doctors are masters at making you accept whatever flaw you THINK you have.)

If you have some money to spend consider a hair transplant. I would NOT advise Turkey but rather a more expensive but local surgeon.
