On a side note, I wouldn't get into anything serious with a girl before Valentine's day.

That holiday is a minefield that I will never celebrate again, whether that's a dealbreaker to some women or not.
That argument can be made for anytime of the year lol.

not every girl is your ex lol.
Don't care.

Not every person who goes in the ocean gets bit by a shark - but I guarantee the ones who do think twice before going back in.

The upside is I get something I'm going to get anyway - sex.

The downside is I spend a lot of time and money to get broken up with because I didn't do enough to measure up to her unspoken standard.

What a value proposition that is...

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

The fight with my ex ruined it for me. It was the one time I put effort in for the holiday, and it "wasn't enough".

So I'm just not gonna do it.
Seems like these women see you as a mark to be taken advantage of.

There are a lot of motivated singles in January to start the year coming off of a crappy holiday season alone. If you start something up in January with a new woman, she won't have too many expectations for February 14 since the relationship hasn't been too long. What can she expect after 3-6 weeks? New women with a 3-6 week history would have some minor expectation of acknowledgment of the day.

I agree that Valentine's Day can be a major minefield.
