How about joining a 4:30 am biking club group instead. I guarantee you'll get in shape but also make good social connections.

I always this group of bikers at an outing when I'm out for getting Starbucks coffee early in the morning, I'd ask to join but I prefer taking walks in the parks.

I never joined a run club but I am a runner and do about 5 to 8 races per year over the last 15 years.

I have never even come close to making a connection with a woman at a race. Everybody is in their own little clique and the woman are usually with their boyfriends/husbands.

However, you might have better luck with a run club since you might see the same woman over and over again.

I've never joined a run club, but my sense is that they would be a lot like co-ed sports leagues. We have a thread on co-ed sports leagues below, where I have offered my opinion on them.

Coed sports leagues yay or nay?

6-8 participants and nationwide. Safer than online dating great exercise. Can only gain in popularity with social media. Also very flexible with location and date. Cons very hard to pick sports and games both indoor and outdoor that appeal to both sexes. Another con not very popular in states...

Netherlands is probably my least favorite country I have ever visited, but it wasn't because of bikes lol.

I’ve been in run clubs and triathlon clubs for a good few years now. As @oc16 said most women are there with their husbands/boyfriends. I’ve never come close to making a connection with a woman in that scene or even seen an opportunity. I’m not saying it’s impossible but it’s definitely not a target rich environment.

A lot of that has to do with your New Jersey location. You are in no man's land in New Jersey, neither close to New York City or Philadelphia. I could imagine run clubs closest to your home would be filled with married suburbanites or divorced single moms. The ones closer to New York or Philadelphia have a better chance of being productive but even those likely aren't that good.

In the Dallas area, the run clubs that would be closer to Downtown Dallas would be the most likely to be a gold mine, but even those would likely have women that mostly have boyfriends and not seeking new penis. I can imagine that run clubs in the Dallas area would get worse north of Interstate 635. In the Dallas area, north of 635 means the northern parts of Dallas further away from Downtown and then the suburbs like Plano and Frisco. 15 miles can make a big difference in the Dallas area.

I did participate in some co-ed sports leagues that had their games and sponsor post-game bars in Central Dallas. Most of those weren't productive for meeting women when I did them so I stopped doing them.

Are the clubs you go to in a suburban area or in a downtown core?

I am assuming it is all about location since some areas have people have a higher chance of running into young professionals than others.

closer to the city core. If you are trying to meet women, you have no business living in a suburb period unless it is a unique location or suburban hip city like Los Angeles.

Even though it could be **** during the winter months, I can see how those running clubs in the summer and closer to a downtown core could be a good place to meet women and people in general.

The only run clubs that would be worth trying would be closer to a city core.

I agree that men trying to meet women need to live closer to a city core in most cases.

I did co-ed sports leagues closer to a city core and found them to be a non-productive use of time. It was generally the right idea though. Sometimes decent ideas don't end up with the anticipated result.
