Viscous Fiber is a special type of fiber that sucks up water and basically turns into a gel in your intestines and moves very slowly thru them, feeding the good bacteria in your gut which produce a substance called butyrate that is a powerful anti-inflammatory in the gut.

The effect is so strong that researchers have found that viscous fiber is pretty much responsible for virtually all the weight loss benefits credited to fiber in general.

This stuff can absorb so much liquid and still be somewhat solid, compact, like your having a big ****, maybe what's happening is it is putting so much strain on your body's fluid reserves that it needs to break down the fat for its liquid or at least the long digestion time "tricks" the body into doing that somehow

I wonder if they controlled for fluids

It's from feeding the good bacteria that release anti-inflammatory substances and produce "good hormones" versus feeding bad bacteria that produce pro-inflammatory substances and trigger the release of "bad hormones".

The interplay between gut bacteria and the human body is so deep and so intertwined that you could almost say your entire body is controlled by gut bacteria.

Make sure when you eat sweet potatoes it’s not covered in butter and brown sugar, plain is the way to go. No sweet potato soufflé at Thanksgiving either.

Maybe at some point the general population will realize that adding sugar, salt, and fat to everything just adds useless calories and junk that our body was not designed to repeatedly process.

I would also add that the slowing of the gut (which it sounds like this does) means you stay fuller, longer.

Yup. And it also helps "scrub" the walls of the intestines keeping the nutrient absorbing villi clean and free of debris and other gunk that could erode their efficiency as well.
