It's not racist. For the people saying it is, it's in the eye of the beholder. And it's ridiculous to ban this song for violence when there are so much more actually violent songs on the airwaves. All they did by banning it was get the song and the artist more publicity.

It's quite ridiculous for *CMT* (Country Music Television) to ban this song

"Try That in a Small Town" has lyrics that suggest crime and violence taking place in urban areas would meet a stronger level of resistance in rural ones.

Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won't take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town
This song is basically a warning to not try any shenanigans. Fvck around and you better plan on people to protect themselves. Don’t hear any racism anywhere. The same people whining burned down cities and caused major chaos during the BLM protests, wanting to defund the police and took over city government buildings in major west coast cities. If they are worrying about this song inciting violence, they best not look in the mirror.

Yet Kardi B‘s song WAP is celebrated on the AMAs. Parts of this nation no longer have any sense or morals.

CMT is going to join the likes of Bud Light now. Get some popcorn and watch the show.

That’s the mindset of the majority of small town citizens in my state.
A song about the reality of life is nothing to get excited about unless they live in denial and/or they’re actually trying the impossible task of changing people’s minds against their free will …

Not a fan of modern country (and the song sounds dumb) but I think the guy should use the words he wants as an artist. I listen to gangsta rap that's 100x worse than that song.

Getting banned just means he'll sell more. Remember 2 Live Crew. Lenny Bruce. People who don't like it are free to bytch. If they think it's racist that's their opinion. Speech over censorship for all. We don't need to go back to the Tipper Gore era.

The people throwing a fit must never listen to rap music. Murder, rape, dope, crime, are pretty common topics in rap.

The left never has had much common sense.

I think part of the reason people are complaining is the location of where the music video was shot at

I think small town America is a cancer to society, so I'll leave it at that.
Rednecks can be problematic but you realize they never owned slaves, right? That was the English Aristocracy who fled England during the Cromwell regime who set up the plantations. The Scots-Irish rednecks had nothing to do with that. They are generally clannish and are standoffish towards all outsiders, not just blacks.

There are no slave owning descendants living in small town america. They live in the cities in the South, not Zanesville Ohio.

Yes, and they are extraordinarily bad too lol. You must be watching some Thomas Sowell videos lol.
Actually just read Albion's Seed, it's a good read. They have a sordid history to say the least. Everyone involved would benefit from knowing their history imo. They have some good sides to them, but the bad sides are *bad* and they're so defensive from being maligned they're blind to them.

There's a reason Scotland has 3 times the murder rate of England (and the highest in all of Europe, including Russia).

I know exactly what you mean! I am a Tennessean which has had a great influence from Scots Irish culture especially the Eastern part. I am black, but I am 25% Scottish and I do love whiskey and fighting.

I have a bunch of these guys downstairs from me who hang out by the stairwell, and all the hotties who used to walk past my pad now go a different direction to get home. They like whiskey and fighting too, they almost ran me over in the parking lot and wanted to fight afterwards.

My friend group from my hometown (Scot Irish origin) was plagued with constant fighting. We went on a bachelor trip and some dumb fight still ended up occurring during the trip lol.

From afar perspective -- I'm in Russian Federation, it's pretty far. I think problems that brought you where you are right now:

1. Gun rights
2. Freedom of speech

Let me explain.

Freedom of speech is what brought you the BLM and LGBT, plus satanists, scientology, jahova's witness, KKK, antifa, and all other dirt that exist in your country. Not all speech should be free to express, that's the bottom line. We have a law against propaganda of LGBT, it's illegal. You can screw whichever way you like in the privacy of your home. You can be gay. Our super star celebrity -- Phillip Kirkorov -- is gay. Admired by most. But he is not pushing his gayness onto others.

We have no gun rights, other than hunting smooth and rifled bore, and self defense none lethal. Crime rates are much lower than in States. You can go out at night, it's safe. You on the other hand have heavy policing, if put in numbers 1000 times much than in Russia, and gun rights, and it does not much you safer. Instead, it teaches you culture of mistrust. Americans love saying (in this song it is said perfectly), if you thread on us, we will........ No you won't! Your gun rights haven't helped you so far, haven't saved you from LGBT's teaching your kids to be gay in kindergarten. Your gun rights did not save wall marts from being robbed by BLM.

Both of these rights are important, but there should be some form of enforcement, otherwise everyone, even the queers and robbers get to voice and enforce their freedom to whatever they want, destroying in the process your freedoms.

I am not sure about satanists, scientology, and jahova's witness, but the other stuff mentioned do come from the same tree of American history going back to the colonies itself. These aren't just simple ideas that were thought of by Joe Smith on the whim.

Our gun rights stem from defending property from European powers (mainly the British), Native American Tribes, and paranoia of slave rebellions in the south. Our crime isn't really related to gun rights, but more so socioeconomics. The US government blatantly oppressed targeted groups of people to benefit one group of people well in to the 70s. Afterwards, there has been issues in which that's where movements such as BLM, antifa, and LGBT come in to play. However, the crime here is mainly isolated in areas in communities where socioeconomics took effect.

Both of these rights are important, but there should be some form of enforcement, otherwise everyone, even the queers and robbers get to voice and enforce their freedom to whatever they want, destroying in the process your freedoms.
No freedoms are being destroyed right now; they are being expanded. If you want to go back to destroying freedom, go back to pre 1970s America.
