Yeah, like the latest Antman movie.
Haven't even seen it. I did see Guardians of the Galaxy III though, that was pretty good.

They've even killed my appetite for Marvel movies, I don't care anymore. For me, it all depends on how they handle the Fantastic Four, if they screw that up, they've likely lost me for good. I no longer trust Disney/Marvel. And with the strike or strikes, who knows how long it will be until FF is even made.
I have one (new) rule when it comes to movies; if there are no (visible) special effects and the story was captivating, I'll applaud the movie. Because they're overdoing it with the cgi. They use it as a cheap solution. By now we've also seen it all: a flying man with arms the size if skyscrapers spitting flames ect(but an extremelyweak written story] ; we've seen all now.

Sometimes they broadcast movies from the 90,s 80,s. I am surprised how much more character, depth, skills charisma ect those actors had. You can tell that skills were still very much needed. Yes they'd put a pretty face here and there but not like today.the stories we're also much better.

Today I'll be hardpressed to even recognize actors if they sat next to me in a plane. Shallow actors, clearly chosen due to nothing but generic looks. Few years ago i heard a soap actress in my country got casted while drinking at a bar..previously even the women were rather hb7's or even 6, but with tons of talent..now you'll see generic 8's with no substance whatsoever.

I miss the Deniro's, Pacino's, Ford's ect. On top of that what the feck do those writers do? Look, I understand it will be hard to come up with some new that'll hit like the first time we saw..xmen spiderman streetfighter, Zelda Bloodsport, Enter the Dragon ect .but at least TRY.

I'd never expected when I was young that despite all of these new technologies they would keep reusing the same shyte over and over and over again. Everything is playing safe, risk free.

Crazy link I'm making, but in a way they're also killing the creative minds of the youth. All games and movies are the same, no adventures and creativity. Same with music. Back then you used to be GOOD and more importantly ORIGINAL. Nowadays originality isn't even needed anymore. You can tell that the next generations picking up on this. They're dead and shallow inside.

I dont watch television ,Netflix ect unless I have female company whose pushing something on me. That black something
show where you cant look back was cool. I loved Vikings, found out about it 7 years after the release. Also that shyte with Utregt from Utregt I believe it was kingsdoms Kights or last kingdom or something like that. Only thing interesting now: historical stories.

Let me let you in on something. Avatar: Way of the Water is in my Disney Plus watchlist and I just watched the first 20 minutes. I remember when it was in cinema and I was considering to watch it. Then I figure, why bother going to watch this, it will probably be in my Disney-plus movie watch-list
I watched it on Max. Really, I had little interest in watching it, and I don't get why Avatar is the biggest grossing movie of all time, and I don't get why it merits a bunch of sequels. I didn't expect to like it. But honestly, it was okay. In a blockbuster, mindless summer movie kind of way. Usually if my expectations are low for a movie (like it was with this one), I find it a lot easier to enjoy.

I have nothing against the superhero genre, although yeah they all seem to be cut and paste now. I enjoyed the comics when I was younger, especially the classic Stan Lee/Jack Kirby era, and therein lies my interest. When Marvel put out the first Iron Man movie, it was like they took Tony Stark right off the pages of the comic book, and put him on the screen. That's what I want to see. Over time, they've strayed further and further from the source material, and seem more interest in injecting modern woke politics and feminism into the movies. Kevin Feige said he wants 51% of Marvel heroes to be women (because women are 51% of the population, I guess). Nothing wrong with female superheroes, but comics have always been a genre males have been more drawn to, although I guess that's changing.

Shang Chi and the Ten Rings, they changed the Mandarin's rings to giant bracelets, They've changed Ms. Marvel's powers completely. It's like they no longer care abut staying true to the source material, and that always drives me crazy (IF I care about the source material). Even Fox's X-Men movies, which were hit and miss, at least took most of their plots from famous comic book storylines. But as it is now, I feel like Disney/Marvel no longer cares about the core comic book fan, or what they think. But I've always thought that adaptations work better when they honor the source material.

As of recent, I'd say Shang Chi and the Ten Rings, and Black Widow were decent watches. At least I've re-watched Shang Chi and the Ten Rings twice (I have to look into seeing if I'm going to re-watch Black Widow again). The other ones with Dr Strange, I only watched the first 20 min I think on two of the movies and passed on it.

From the word on the video-streets, it looks like Disney + killed things with all of the Marvel spin-off TV-shows and a directionless third phase. I remember the second phase in the 10s was all the rave and I was into Black Panther, Infinity Wars and End Games that I was spurred on to watch previous Marvels of that Decade (ie such as the Avengers-2012, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 1 & 2, just to see the little "stone" sequences and how Thanos fit as the mega-villian. I felt there was an event to see Endgame, 2019. Then they had the Spiderman: Homecoming which was half-decent then it just fell off the rails after that. Just the two movies I mentioned above were half-decent as standalone movies (ie not adding to anything on Phase 3) and I feel like where I was with the movies in the 00s when I honestly didn't care about it.

If it wasn't for John Wick 4, I don't think I'd care that much about any recent movies that came out since Megan (2023). Even the current hype movies like Mission Impossible, Barbie and Oppenheimer I'm not feeling crazy about and would rather wait for digital.

Exactly how I feel about it. Hollywood is embarrassing these days. But overall in a bigger picture, I've started really considering moving out of America alltogether this year for the first time ever. I think America is headed down the shi.tter, but I also love the country for many reasons, especially some of its food , sports culture, nightlife, music culture, etc. But its tough.. Theres alot of great places to live out in the world
Where to thats the question.

Yeah, Shang-Chi and Black Widow were okay, even though I didn't like the way they changed the rings from the comics.
I thought Dr. Strange was pretty good, even though I mainly watched it just to see the Illuminati (Mr. Fantastic, Professor X, Black Bolt, Captain Britain, and Pulsar). The multiverse stuff is cute because you get to have these other dimensional guest stars like the three Spider-man. But you can't keep that stuff because if there are an infinite amount of worlds, why should I care about any particular one? I think that's a mistake they're making.

But yeah, Marvel's been downhill since Endgame.

Billionaires fighting Millionaires. They try to spin it so they can say they are trying to help the actors that aren't famous that use it to make a living like we do at a 9 to 5 job but really let's be honest. These rich and famous movie stars aren't striking for them.

It's like when the politicians bandy about all these Middle and Lower Class tax breaks but secretly give them and their rich friends and donors much bigger breaks and give us the table scraps.

Same concept.
