I mean since the beginning of time, beauty always has had its benefits. But nowadays it's such a commodity that being beautiful alone, you can build a massive following/influence, and then have offers from an unlimited amount of brands that want you to promote their products and offerings to your followers.

There's tons of beautiful women you see show up to certain clubs and stuf.. and now it's jsut like.. women are so superficially inclined to wanting a man that is also handsome/beautiful.. with great skin , beautiful eyes, a chiseled jawline, great hair, muscles, etc..

It feels like now more than ever that "ugly" is even more depreciated than it was ever before because there's so much contrast with all the beauty that's around. If you go on any social media platform, you're bound to just see tons of beauty (depending on what you follow and resonate with.. but its everywhere and some of the most popular content).. Beautiful women get hundreds to thousands of likes on average on their posts.

IT almost feels like the contrast between beauty and ugly has grown so greatly.. and now the "average" people are just kinda in a place where they're tryin to decide "am i ugly?" " am i beautiful?" ... I've had a chick who was smokin hot ask me if I thought she was ugly. This was at the beach with no makeup on. and im like why would you even ask that? she's like all my friends are really hot and get alot of attention from guys and i feel like guys look at me for a bit but then instead go for my friends.. and I told her straight up that I thought she was more attractive than any of the examples she showed me.

I'm quite superficial myself and a sucker for beauty.. but also intelligence. But primarily beauty. Throughout my whole life, i've thought of girls who weren't of a certain standard as just ugly.. It's crazy though that where we are at now in life, that's kinda how it feels for alot of women.. You're either hot or you're not.

Idk, I think there’s a universal standard for ugly. However, Anything from average to hot seems to be in the eye of the beholder. You could think that girl is a 10/10 but I could see her as meh.

Yeah I think you're right about that. There's certain things that I noticed that encompasses beauty that most guys can agree upon--things like big beautiful eyes, instead of smaller/deeper set eyes .. proportion, distance between eyes, whethers omeone has a bulbous nose or a cute feminine nose, the shape of the eyebrows.. the eyebrows width to mouth ratio (most beautiful woman and even men have a downward pointing triangle face.. with wider eyebrows/eyebrow riders and cheekbones to a smaller mouth area. Also obvious things like wrinkles/ eye bags/ hollow bottom part of the eyes, fat/undefined jawlines or jawlines that are far behind the upper teeth, big foreheads, etc.

For example of the triangle thing:

If you look at some of the writings of ancient Greek & Roman poets, beauty was highly praised. Again, during the Renaissance. The Bible notes how handsome King Saul & King David were & the Beauty of Rachel & Bathsheba. The Song of Solomon is all about beauty. Though we are instructed to not judge based on looks. Besuty has always been treasured.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Those are some great examples. It seems like the praise and admiration for beauty has always been there-- but what I'm trying to figure out is whether nowadays its more Valuable to be beautiful than it was ever before? To the point you can just sell your beauty on variety of platforms, medias, agencies, to a variety of different industries, etc. Where being beautiful can mean you have influence over millions of people, etc

or id it just our technology allows us to reach millions and monetize it? Wasn’t Helen of Troy so beautiful that her abduction caused a long and terrible war? I doubt any Only Fans girl could do that today.

Your pictures are a good example of what I mean. Some guys might find the first girl pretty meh tier and the second one a 10 because she has more of a certain look to her. For me, I like the plain jane types/nerds so I find the first girl attractive and the second one meh/10.

You were definitely more limited to your proximity back in the day before photography. Prior to that, you may not have known what Helen of Troy even looked at because you lived in some backwoods village far out from the city.

Forget Helen of Troy. Look at what Cleopatra was able to pull off. I mean you definitely have a point. I think its just more opportunities now that we live in a capitalist / corporate world full of social technology like you mentioned.

Standards of beauty back then were quite different from place to place though.. In some places they valued the more chunky fat women at time who were more fluffy and had fatter faces.. But even in those times, it was the way they donned their hair, makeup and outfits that really accentuated their beauty.. So was the case of Cleopatra.

But nowadays that ability to accentuate your beauty has become stronger than ever, and there are way more outlets and avenues to do it even further like plastic surgeries. I Don't doubt that in the past they had all types of makeup and maybe even more beautiful more expensive materials to make it like real lapus lazuli instead of some synthetic blues for eye shadows and diff real hair extensions and more if not just as ornate dresses as we have today.. But I think nowadays we just have a plethora of stuff and the beauty industry is far bigger than it ever was in those times.

The majority of men never even saw cleopatra in person. Think about it, imagine only seeing mostly 2s and 3s most of your life and suddenly hearing about a beautiful powerful queen that is upcoming. Your imagination will do most of the work for you.

I have read Cleopatra wasn’t that pretty.
She was notably pretty/beautiful to emperors and leaders who have had been able to pick and choose women from entire nations.. But it wasn't just her intrinsic beauty.. It was her ability to beautify herself even more with the way she did her hair , her fancy garments which she would adorn in things, the way she did her makeup..

I used Cleopatra as an example because she is the most noteable example in our entire history of a woman who was able to use her beauty and skills in beautifying herself to take over powerful nations, even after being exiled and found out of her wickedness, to come back and take those same nations over again a 2nd time.

To answer the OP beauty has been over commoditised to the point where its starting to lose value

I see so many "hot" girls on a daily basis now I am completely desensitised to it ......there was a very good looking brunette in the gym last week she was with a blonde who wasn't quite as good looking but I went. too talk to them and their attitudes were awful

I made my excuses and quickly left

For me entertaining their poor attitudes in exchange for their beauty wasn't a tradeoff I was willing to continue to make because I knew I would see more hot chicks tomorrow who may have better attitudes

there are still a lot of men out there who would happily lose a limb to entertain bad behaviour

But This is the problem with over supplying anything in the world , it quickly starts to lose value and people don't really respect it for long

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

No.
Narcissus was already the king of it thousands of years ago and paid the price.
Mankind has always been mesmerized and drawn to beauty and spellbound by it. It is very deep buried within our DNA. The only difference today is that we have developed advanced technology that enables us to alter and improve our perceived looks in the way that wasn't possible in the past. Also the internet and internet technologies have put things in overdrive as we now not only seek the attention of our nearest peers, but fricking the whole population of the world in our ego trips to brag about our looks.

They fought wars over it and ended civilizations over it so pretty sure it was a much bigger thing back in ancient times.

If you removed the layers of make-up, fake eye lashes, push-up bras, form enhancing clothes and technology that changes your look, most of these “10s” would be “5s”. When they show celebrities without makeup alone it’s like holy sh!t, she looks terrible. Technology enables our reach to be far wider and than ever before. If the requirement was for these women to go online without makeup the numbers would plummet.

Even though that girl at the beach was “hot”, she was also insecure and looking for validation. That is an exhausting trait to be around. Ever heard of the saying, “doesn’t matter how hot she is, someone is tired of her sh!t”? The older I get the more I prefer to be around average looking women with friendly and pleasant personalities. Used to be infatuated with one particular woman I thought was attractive until I figured out she was a miserable narcissist that never had anything pleasant or positive to say. Her beauty couldn‘t erase her terrible personality.
