A female acquaintance revealed to me that both she and her boyfriend are both on antidepressants. She is taking Lexapro and who knows what he is taking. Her’s is for erratic mood swings and anxiety. Quite frankly I think she‘s BPD/NPD from her childhood. Lo and behold she found a boyfriend who had a fvcked up childhood just like her’s with a mother that abandoned him. He ended up in foster care. Not sure where his dad was, but he also has self-esteem issues from basically being dumped by both of his parents. Both of these people are in their mid 40s. The damage seems physiological permanent. They also drink alcohol on the regular which is not recommended while on SSRIs. The antidepressants seem like a chemical solution to a fundamental problem.
I see this issue as a result of the decline of the healthy family unit. Divorce rates have been on the raise over the past decades and the kids get effected the most. Broken people create more broken people. Men and women are at war with each other in 2023 rather than fulfilling their biological roles. Women have been brain washed to think that they don’t need men while men are seen as toxic for being alive. WTF people? There seems to be a cultural phenomenon to this as well. Cultures that have defined rolls for each gender seem to do better. This is where I see diversity as a double edge sword. Feminism and western ideology is imploding our society. Non-western families where the parents are both respected for their individual rolls seem to do better. When that structure crumbles, people end up with deep seated physiological damage.
And yes, the pharmaceutical machine in the US is the largest drug dealer on the planet. They want you on a prescription because they don’t make money off of healthy people. I still laugh at the notion that the vax had zero side effects. Sugar alone, which is a natural substance has side effects.
