Went on Reddit recently. As I’ve said before my wife can get some whopping PMS so I went on a PMS sub.
Now, I’m not so much of an a$$hole to mock women who are clearly having a hard time with hormones. However, the lack of insight and logic in there is astounding and I couldn’t help correcting a few.
One was a lady who basically said “my HB is a very sweet kind man but as soon as I’m menstral he suddenly blanks me and is horrible to me, then when it’s over he goes back to being a great guy”
serious. Far from the other ladies pointing out something is off here and it’s probably her perception, the general view was “he’s abusing you. Silence and refusing communication is subtle abuse”
i picture this poor guy, undoubtedly a good man who’s final refuge is to just disengage and avoid her…which is all you can do often, but instead, he’s expected to dedicate hours of his life to illogical conversations which go nowhere and always end up with a fight.
I pointed out calmly that it’s likely her perception and not him, and it ended with the consensus being that I was a perpetrator of domestic violence and was supporting “my kind”
it’s a white knuckle ride throwing yourself armed with logic into a PMS forum. It was pretty hilarious.
The issue is, more should be made of this. It should be a de facto established idea that some women on the rag just can’t cope and we should not take their perceptions any more seriously than a hormone addled teenager.
This is not misogyny. I would level the same at a male who’s testosterone has made him angry and belligerent. There’s no arguing with a young man with red mist. Society recognises men can be angry and violent due to this and we have laws and customs to protect people. It’s a shame we don’t have the same conventions for this.
