I thought I’d lay this pearl on you shysters:

Get a personal portable cell phone jammer you can carry in your jacket or back pocket. It’s a simple way to keep cellphone obsessed women from being able to text and social media on a date or anywhere around you.

We’ve all been around a chick that obsessively looks at her phone, especially youngsters. This should keep her from bouncing to her gf’s, having other guys text her while you work it, and generally keep her focused on you. Look to spend about $300US on one.

keep one in your pad…

That depends on if you’re meeting the person with the interest of making them an LTR, plate or ONS.

Given most guys here are ONS or STR motivated being able to focus the attention of a person whose phone is letting off alerts like a Jack Russell on crack this is a technology hack that may be useful to them. Also in the case of you really liking the person, it removes distractions from the scene, which can help you focus on them in a way that you may then break through the nonsense and truly attract the other person.

I personally know of a restauranteur who has a hammer in the eaves of his restaurant - it keeps the ambiance from being disturbed. When a customer says “wow no reception! Do you have Wifi?” She responds with “no sorry, and yes we’re in an area with poor reception, it’s probably just interference”.

As far as acquiring a device like this is concerned, no how to do it - that is left as an exercise for the reader.
>>not available to USA and EU (only authorized government users).

Not sure what this means, were you able to purchase one?

I get how annoying that is but ideally wouldn't it be a good compliance test, a way to gauge her interest level and
character?

It's rude to behave that way on a date, it reflects low interest and it's disrespectful.

Wouldn't it be better to find this out up front versus controlling and inhibiting her ability to behave that way and not knowing?

If me, and tables were turned, I'd rather know immediately what type of person he was and next him if he behaved so rudely and disrespectfully while out with me.

JMO. :)

They're illegal under federal law (in USA) to use, advertise, sell, distribute, import, or otherwise market. Punishable by a large fine, seizure of equipment and criminal sanctions including imprisonment.

I imagine the EU regards it with similar seriousness.

So, given that it's illegal to market and advertise cellphone jammers in the jurisdiction this forum is hosted, I will have to strip the link out from the OP. I'll leave the discussion open though, but no further links to such products should be posted.

You beat me to that point. They are so illegal in the US that they won't even let prison wardens have them to block contraband phones.

Two years ago, the FCC fined a Florida man $48,000 for driving around with a jammer.
Oh wow, that's definitely not a small fine. I guess the punishment depends on the severity of the offense, if you get caught with one in the middle of nowhere they'll probably just seize it. If you get caught using one near a police station, fire station or hospital I'm pretty sure you're fvcked.

I wouldn't mess with the FCC just to force an inherently obnoxious woman to pay attention to me. The fact that she can't mentally escape into her phone wouldn't change what she really is anyways, so it's just a very unnecessary risk to use a jammer. @Pierce.Manhammer this is just a bad idea all around.

Well there are ways to block the signals, if you know what you’re doing without breaking any laws. Ever wonder why cells don’t work in data centers? Or certain types of architecture?

faraday cages - some buildings simply are faraday cages - structures that don’t permit RF signals to pass through their walls. There are places even in large modern cities where signals simply cannot penetrate - hell my supermarket is one.

anyway just an idea -didn’t know I was violating the forum rules sorry folks.

p.s. how’d we EVER live without these infernal devices? Frankly no one is THAT important.

Exactly.
Back in the day a date used to say Excuse me if her sneeze momentarily interrupted a f2f date conversation.
Now it’s evolved to the point that good social manners have been superseded by a device addiction…

I didn't think you intended on breaking the rules and this is obscure enough to not be common knowledge, so I just removed the link and I won't take any further action against you. It's not a big deal.

Blocking is fundamentally different from jamming. Blocking decreases the signal to the point it can't be picked out of the background noise, jamming increases the noise instead to drown out the signal. The advantages of jamming is the mobility and discretion, you can have a small device that creates a ton of noise in a hard to define area around it. Blocking doesn't have those advantages as it needs some sort of barrier absorbing the signal between the sender and receiver, such as a faraday cage or several layers of thick rebar reinforced concrete in large buildings. Naturally it's impractical to put it lightly to take a faraday cage with you to a date, I imagine the restaurant staff won't like you putting up a metal mesh on all their walls.

It's not that I disagree about the rudeness of a date on her phone. I think it's better to just disqualify them than to take away their option and pretend they're good.
