I never kept platonic female friends. Not even when I was in high school or college. Someone could argue the point that my lack of platonic female friendship has impacted my dating efforts since I have never been able to take advantage of social circle interactions. It's a weak point. All of the male friends I've made in the past decade have had longer term stable girlfriends and/or wives. None of my male friends girlfriends/wives have ever set me up on a date. I've never been on unfriendly terms with any of them but not too friendly with some of them.
It's not worth developing female friends after a certain age. I'd say that age is roughly 25. Time spent with female friends comes with the opportunity cost of time spent finding new women who are interested in having sex.
