Just finding out skincare makes a huge difference to your looks.

Never really did it before and if I did it was with some crappy drugstore products.

I always through my skin looked alright. So what's they point. About a month ago I decided to give skincare a go.

For a day or two I got a bit obsessed with researching.

Bought a load of cheap but high quality products.

I knew what I needed ,knew what to buy , knew how to use it and built a routine which I follow.

I probably spend between 5 min to 10 min a day.

I've had crazy gains in that short period of time. My skin is glowing and so healthy looking.

It's made quite a big impact on my physical attractiveness in a positive way with minimal effort and a small cost.

Might not be everyone's thing. Personally I'm happy with the result, and feel like I've gotten hotter just by washing my face and a bit of cream (who knew lol ).

Really? What took you so long bruh?

I use a moisturizer from Ole Henriksen. What brand did you start to use?

Cerave hydrating cleanser and Cerave mosturiser.

Then I got stuff from , the ordinary (cheap and good quality).

For treatments:- niacinamide, hydraulic acid, and rentinol

For a chemical expholiate:- Lactic acid

For sunscreen:- watery essence by biore

I was really lucky. Litrerally everything I bought works on my skin amazingly.

I've starting to get more women hit on me and check me out lately. Just came back from the supermarket when a pretty blonde cashier asked my to drop my mask to see my face because I was buying beer.

She just blurted out "well hello there" , then proceed to gush in her knickers when serving me.

Just showering me with complements the whole time, "your skin is amazing, I knew you had nice eyes before you took the mask off, you smell really good too". Blah blah blah.

Never had that before!

100% it's improving my looks. Definitely.

Learned a ton of gay guys on YouTube. A guy called James Walsh on YouTube put me onto the products and routine that is working for me.

Mlotion or Moisturising lotion from clinique has been my staple for over 20 years. Did go through spell at beginning of using their scruffing lotion, other stuff, but dropped that quickly. Difficult to say how much impact it has I also drink loads of water each day, omega 3 caps, salmon and virtually 0 junk food., very active etc

In my 20's I used to party hard each weekend, not sleeping much, alcohol, drugs and out in the sun (during UK short summer) a lot and people are shocked when they find I'm 41. Same for some of my mates who lead similar 'bad' lifestyle for years. So genetics play a solid part too I guess.

So I went to London…march of this year to go hang out with family and cousins that I hadn’t seen in 10 years and my cousin gave me a skin care kit by a company called Lumin. It’s an American company and had about 5 products in it which consisted of the charcoal cleanser, exfoliating cream, recovery oil, moisturizing balm, and the dark circle defense. All my life I never gave 2 f#cks about my skin because I never needed to neither did I ever pay attention to it. Never had any acne or scars or any other problems associated with skin so I thought I give it a try and see if it actually works and sure enough my skin seems to be “glowing” based of the compliments that I have been getting. My face feels cleaner and not as oily as it used to be. So it works. I’m sure their are other products out their but I highly recommend that every man at least have some type of skin care routine in there arsenal. Wish I would’ve started earlier.

I use Brickell for men. I have their charcoal facial cleanser, scrub, moisturizer, balancing toner, and eye serum. Though I think the eye serum was a waste of money.

Agreed, their products are expensive,so if value for money is your thing then avoid, but they are excellent

Hi Captain Finn,
A story...In my long lost youth I was involved with a Girl from what you might call a Hill-Billy Family...They lived in a Mountain Fastness about nine miles from their nearest neighbour...They lived a semi subsistence life style killed their own meat grew or traded for their vegetables got bread and a few basics delivered from Town about seventy miles away by the Postman couple of times a week...Water was a valuable commodity and never wasted on baths or showers, ablutions were a face lick every morning and night...They made their own soap never used commercial cleaners...The most interesting thing was their skin, the parents though in their late fifties had impeccable peaches and cream skin, pink and soft and never smelt offensive though everyone worked from sun up to sun down...they didn't need to wash the natural oils out of their bodies nor add cremes laced with chemicals... neither do you...Maybe if your skin is dry add a little Olive Oil...If you are eating sensibly and get regular exercise out in the open air you will look good.

I actually agree with everyone on this thread. You visit farming families as long as they always wore hats they look great. And those of us Beverly Hillbillies who live in the matrix/city need a little help. Everything listed by OP has some science behind it

Hi Uber,
Yes you raise a valid point...These Guys lived on the Coastal Divide a cool equable climate being close to the Sea it was often cloudy they always wore broad brimmed Hats and never stripped their clothes in the Sun...probably similar to much of New Zealand...Or come to think of it Ireland whose Ladies are thought to have the Worlds best Complexions.....Another thought also close to you is that Smell could be a very personal thing as Chinese Women joke amongst themselves about how offensive we Occidentals smell LOL.

I used to have this thinking. Since using the right stuff, my skin is looking awesome.

Definitely sticking with it.

It's a blessing that guys have such a reluctance to learn about ingredients or use proper skin care.

At best guys are using some off shelf brand, have zero idea what ingredients they are putting on their skin and believe that's it.

Makes it so easy to have much better skin than the vast magority of the guys.

My skin care routine has:

- avoiding smoking
- eating omegas, my multivit, collagen, proteins
- sunscreen SPF 15
- hair serum after bath
- general moisturizer

I should ideally take better care of my skin though, thanks for this, any pointers?

It's all about the ingredients. Most people have literally zero idea what they are putting on their face. They just know a brand name and that's about it.

Basics are a cleanse/face wash (I use Cerave) , a mosturiser (I use Cerave) and sunscreen (I use watery essence by biore).

I use mild stuff that doesn't irritate my skin. It's cheap, hasn't got fancy extras in it. This stuff works amazing on me, took a little experimenting to find what works for me.

As for all the extra bits. You can go two routes, you can buy a mosturiser with specific ingredients in (usually expensive), or you can go down the path I've gone down and buy the ingredients seperatly.

I went with buying just the ingredients seperatly because it's super cheap and I have control of what I'm putting on my face, when and in what quantity.

You can't do this with an all in one product.

In the morning I wash my face, put on what ingredients I want, then mosturiser and sunscreen.

In the evening I do the same minus the sun screen.

I mainly use niacinamide, hydraulic acid, and rentinol.

I use niacinamide everyday , it's basically a jack of all trades and does magic to your skin.

I use hydraulic acid everyday. It basically draws mosturiser from around you into your skin. So it basically helps keep your skin hydrated (which is good )..

Retinol does lots of good things, I mainly use it for anti aging but it benefits me in loads of other ways too. Retinol is really good but you need to learn what your doing and how to use it.

Only use at night (never in the day), buy the weakest solution you can find (I started in 0.2% ).

You need to build up a tolerance to it. Use once a week, then over time increase to twice a week, then three times a week. Then eventually buy a stronger solution and cut back the nights you use it again. Repeat.

With retinol you 100% need to know what your doing and research it.

A few times a week I'll use a chemical expholiate. I use lactic acid , it basically strip all the crap off your skin. I only use at night, never in the day.

Research basic skin care on YouTube.

Buy the individual ingredients from, the ordinary.

It sounds complicated but it's really not. Wash face, choose what ingredients I want to use at that specific time , rub ingredients on the face and use mosturiser, then sunscreen (if in the day)

Takes a couple of minutes.

Doctotly, on YouTube is helpful. I also found James Walsh really helpful (mainly because he's from the same county as me and has similar skin to me).

So many chemicals! I use honey mixed with cinnamon,as well as honey mixed with turmeric.Worked absolute wonders for me. I also steam my face before I go out or go to bed.

The first time I ever considered taking skin care seriously is when Kevin Samuels said it.Got compliments left right and centre when I started. It is definitely something more guys should look into.

"Things your father should have taught you."
my dad is more blue collar working man and thinks anything around skin care or grooming beyond having hair cut/spraying on after shave for special occassions is gay :D
