By the time you are well aware that this company is a toxic place to work, you have gotten several raises, vacation time scheduled, eyeing a certain spot in the company you want because it will look better on your resume, and why would you leave when there's a vesting period for your 401k.

So by this metaphor, you are stating that you are starting to fall in love with this plate now? I'd suggest putting that plate on the back burner and entertain your other plate for a while, or get another one. If you don't want to do that, all you can do is lay down the law. If she leaves you, she leaves you... If you are to continue down this placating path, she will lose respect for you anyways and then probably leave you. These might be shjt tests. And she really just wants you to tell her no.
