Why is there pressure to get married?

In this day and age, where women have a lot of financial, legal, and political power, where women strip for cash and do porn and take off their clothes in mainstream movies to become famous, a lot of men want to commit to them, get married and have a family. Society also makes fun of men who are not married and have a family. They believe there is something wrong with them, and that the men who don't commit are abnormal.

Lets reverse it. Suppose most men and women got together and had kids, but didn't marry each other. And suppose society made fun of men who did marry and commit to one woman, and that commitment to one woman was considered abnormal. Would there so much pressure to get married?

Or are we all sheep who follow the herd and can't think for ourselves?

Thoughts?

Because most women have grown up as little girls dreaming of organizing and planning their perfect wedding, their wedding day and living happily ever after.

So as a man you basically have a few choices. Either accept that most likely after a period of time if you won't marry a woman she will leave you for someone that will, or screen as well as possible before doing so and take a calculated risk.

Everything in life has risks and associated costs or opportunity costs. Marriage is no different.

The way our legal system is set up, our laws respond to changing narratives based on certain landmark cases which set certain precedents and these precedents have evolved marriage into what it is today.

The stigma attached to marriage is beginning to catch up to what marriage really is, as opposed to what it is viewed as and yes these 2 things are very very different, especially for certain people in certain contexts.

Most people do not understand that marriage is more than likely the most legally significant choice you will ever make and anyone who is pushing you to look at this in a casual way or include marriage in an ultimatum, I mean obviously this person is rushing into, again, the most legally binding choice they may ever make.

50 years from now, people are going to look at marriage very differently than we do, because they will hopefully be even more educated about the legal impacts of being married than we are aware of today.

Society judges most single mature men who have never married or had kids as life-long playboys who can't commit and sex up women on a regular basis. Almost all women hate it because were "womanizers" and some men hate/envy it because their current life is not their own (wife + kids own them) and they envy it. If you're in really good shape and decent looking with a charismatic personality people can *really* hate you without even knowing you. Ignornat, but very true. So, basically, 80% of the people dislike you right off the bat because of your lifestyle. 20% get it, don't care, or are life-long friends who support it.

I should know, I've been dealing with it my entire adult life. See my pic for how I really feel about it. Taken yesterday at Coors Field.

NEVER give in to social norms. Live your life the way YOU want, not how people might "see" you.

Ciao.

That's the good thing with having purpose outside of women, being in good shape, relatively wealthy, having other purposes.

All adds up to be more self assured and not caring what the vast majority think.

I have mixed feelings about this. I've made it to my late 30s as a never married and no kids guy. In the first half of my 30s, I didn't get positive feedback about my life choices. Since turning 35, I have received some positive feedback about my path.

Women do not care about the guys over 30 or 35 who are never married and childless that are average to low SMV. Those guys can drop dead to most women.

A lot of married men don't like single men because single men (even those in LTRs) have more freedom than they do.

There is not a lot of social interaction between married men with children and unmarried single men not in relationships.

Also, that's a great picture at Coors Field in Denver.

At some point in a man's life between ages 25-34, there is always a flurry of weddings in his social circle. There are men who succumb to marrying their current girlfriends because the majority of their social circles are getting married.

Yes, for the most part. The only reason I can think of for a man to get married these days is complacency.

Having said that, the financial risk that the average man exposes himself to in a marriage is slowly declining, as women are now making nearly as much as men. Ironically, marriage rates are declining too. In other words, as financial windfalls of marriage decline for women, so do the marriage rates. Interesting how it works, isn't it?

First off....society is broken and run by the masses. Second...the masses are asses.

The rest is details, that result from this fact.

So any marriage nonsense, should come as no surprise.

It might be something to do with the fact that if people don't get married and have kids, our whole society would collapse.

But personally, I think there already enough people in the world and these days the pressure is less than it has been in almost any time in history.

In the past, a man didn't really have any choice at all unless he wanted to become a monk.
