So I have friends that tell me that job shortages are a myth. They say that it is a fear tactic used by the mainstream media. Apparently you can always find a job if you want one. They point to states like Kansas in which they are paying people to work in the state. I have mixed feelings about this topic. I think it is very regional. In big metro cities you can find something but in more rural areas jobs are scarce. We also have to figure out what type of jobs that are available. Are they living wage jobs or minimum wage jobs?

"Apparently you can always find a job if you want one."

This is true, but sucking **** for $5 each is technically a job. Good jobs are and always will be rare and require skills or connections.

If you are a software engineer there is no such thing. Even if there was a nuclear holocaust and we all were living in Fallout Shelters in the Apocalypse the IT recruiters would find us and let us know they have all these jobs available

I keep seeing facebook posts about all the local places that are hiring, implying that people are too lazy to work. The list is long, but on closer inspection it is all minimum wage work like fast food, discount retail, and stamping parts at the local factory, which is a minimum wage job in my area.

If a business can't afford to pay a wage that will make workers want the job, then they should go out of business. That's capitalism in a free market.

It's all business common sense.

Ever since the Biden administration extended the unemployment benefits, the blue states that are still extending the benefits may surpass the pay that employers are willing to pay.

I know in my area, you can get $750 max per week with the additional $300 perk added in. So that is $3,000 per month or around $17/hr. Most min wage jobs pay between $10-15/hr so you can see why a lot of people will not want to work any mediocre jobs.

And couple that to the summer time and people just wanting to relax and have fun. Not to mention the democrats child tax credit which adds $300/kid under 6 or $250/kid 6-17 and you can potentially be making $4300/mo if you had 4 kids under 6.

smh.....Bro I think they will implement some form of permanent UBI. I guess this is the time to enter the labor force if you always wanted to change jobs huh. Problem is most of the shortage seems to be lower paying jobs.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Correct. No one in NJ can live off $12 / hour when the average rent for a 1 bedroom is $1,600. There is no incentive to work because employers want to pay slave wages. The unemployment from the pandemic has given those people the ability to say fvck your slave wages. Expect UBI to come soon.

when this lousy federal administration decided to pay people more to sit on their @ss than go back to work, there are businesses that literally cannot find employees. There is not a jobs shortage, there is a labor shortage because of the idiots giving handouts over and over.

Its not capitalism, its socialism.

Incorrect. People were working those jobs before covid and living in NJ, the same people would be working them now if the lousy presidential administration didnt pay them the same or more to sit on their ass. Most of them worked THROUGH covid shutdowns until they started getting more free money than they could make.
If you want to go see slave wages, go to the countries that are making your Nike shoes and most other brand name clothing that I am sure you buy the shyte out of. $12 an hour isnt a slave wage.

The people making min wage had the same opportunity as everyone else.....and your post might be the most ridiculous of year bro. I have degrees in political science and economics, I will be more than happy to break it down for you even more.

And I have lived in the NJ/NYC metro area in the past. I know its not the cheapest place to live, but someone flipping burgers doesnt deserve a new SUV and a $300k house. They can choose to stay where they are or work to change their situation.

It boggles my mind on the entitlement attitudes of people that have no skills or education going to work at a place and then demanding they get paid x amount and trying to force the employer to do so.

In my days, you had to get more education or work on becoming skilled at something to EARN your pay. And if you didn't like what you were being paid? Simply move on and find someone else that will pay what you want.

But this picketing, social shaming, forcing someone to GIVE you something you haven't earned or value you don't have? Simply ridiculous...

Rediculous is paying people $12 / hour and having the rest of their housing and food needs subsidized by the taxpayer. We are subsidizing the profits of poorly run businesses that survive by paying slave wages. This pandemic just exposed how asinine the whole thing. I wouldn’t get out of bed either for $12 / hour if there were an alternative.

The workers are finally telling poorly run business to kick rocks. They’d rather sit at home and collect unemployment than go work like a dog for minimum wage and still need taxpayer assistance.

Business right now are short staffed. “Help wanted” signs everywhere. Why?

It is better financially to sit at home and collect unemployment than get paid slave wages. The minimum wage ain’t shvt. It doesn’t afford a one bedroom apartment in any major city in the US.

Its like that in Denmark right now. You get paid more to be unemployment benefits then getting a job.
A single mom can cash out every month about 32 000 DKK (5238.30 USD) for example.
