Odd observation

In lockdown I have missed hair appointments and as I’m not seeing customers I’ve just let my hair grow which is now longish - not collar length but definitely grown out. Plus I’ve not trimmed the beard. It’s really long but totally unkempt.

I look totally caveman or almost like a tramp.

I’ve noticed far more looks from women than I usually do. I have lost some weight but I assumed when I look totally unkempt this is highly unattractive, but it seems the total opposite. Most of the girls I’ve made a wee bit of eye contact/smiling with are younger than usual too (I’m 38 but a few of these were in theit early 20s!)

im married so I wouldn’t tap them up, but it’s nice to get some of the little interactions which I used to get....of course, I may be imagining this, it may be just some kind of random chance, but have definitely had more of this since I became a shaggy beast.

I must add I am otherwise smartly dressed, clean clothes etc. But my head looks like a tramp

My only explaination is that the ultra tryhard look some guys go for is cringey because it shows they take themselves too seriously, and if they're under 30-35 its just plain silly, because millenials should not be taken seriously. I think the super stylized tryhard look only works if you're over 40 or so. This approach might work if you have a high status job that requires it...but if not, I wouldn't be surprised if they can pick up on the incongruity.

If you look unusual in some way women tend to notice you more. Not that necessarily they're attracted. I find that if I wear my russian hat I always catch women looking at me. I like to be nice and warm, but it's an added bonus.

That is rather odd... I've heard from guys who claim to be very successful with ladies talking about how they became essentially invisible to women as sexual beings when they had big beards, but think ZZ top beard, not living-under-bridge-hobo.

Some women do preffer their men scruffy though. A friend of mind doesn't like Brad Pitt when he's looking like a pretty boy, but when he's got a beard and looks like crap, she's turned on.

Don't try to understand women... lol

Showed up to a dinner date once wearing hiking pants(the ones you can zip down on the sides for airflow) and some technical hiking boots with a striking colour. She thought it was odd that I didn't dress up, but that date lasted 72 hours.

I think it's about being true to yourself. If you're naturally preppy and like to be clean-shaven, you'll probably do good, and attract the ones who like that. But if you don't *really* care and play the part right, you'll also do better than when trying to be someone you're not.

I've noticed for me that too much beard = no interest except for 30+. About 1mm or less = more interest from younger ones. I have a nice face so covering it up with hair does me a disservice. Adjust the amount of hair depending on that.

I had exactly the same line from 2 women. One had an ex who actually turned transsexual eventually and was very into grooming.

the other was recently divorced from a dude, I looked him up. Cycling fanatic, perfectly clean shaven. By default as a motorist I hated him on the basis he was cycling fanatic!

I think much of this is just variety, sometimes women want a fling with someone totally different.

same with us I guess. I’m a professional guy but I am not into the office girl look. Sad to say but I find trashy women the best looking. Quite like the cheap slag look. Yet given my frame, I could never get them. They want chads.

I don’t actually want to date these women though.

my friend works as an air conditioning engineer. Totally rough and ready and gets tons of slutty girls but wants educated ones.

I guess women are similarly non homogenous in their taste.

I’d say on average though: western women like smart men, lean, with dark hair and Mediterranean features. Neat looking faces. Beard or not. Virtually every hot YouTube girl
Vlogger wheel out their man and I can almost tell you what they look like before they are on screen. Tall, white, dark hair, lean, and good teeth. The YT girl tends to be insecure enough to want attention so naturally they would want an archetypal trophy guy.

Unpopular opinion here but comes from direct personal experience back when I took a shower every few weeks and didn't brush my teeth: women are attracted to natural.
