I consider myself a semi-pro mechanic since I've been wrenching on cars(mine, families, friends) since high school.

Basically any Toyota or Honda. Honda's are generally more stylish and driver's oriented. Both will easily last 120k+ miles with just basic maintenance. Once past those miles, they start needing stuff like timing belts, shocks, bushings, etc. that can be a little more expensive to replace.

All the newest Toyota's and Honda's though can be little more nuisance since they have heavy electronics(2008+) if you buy a high mileage used one because all the electronics are finicky and can throw check engine lights at the slightest hiccup.

If you're looking to wow girls, Get the sports version like a Civic Si or Honda Accord SE. The newest Camry SE looks pretty stylish too(subjective).

If you wanna also exude a sense of status, get a Lexus(Toyota) if you're after more comfort and luxury. If you're after more a of driver's car with sporty nature, get an Acura(Honda).

However with that said, I only have one Honda in my stable. Most are European cars but that's because I do my own work. I would not recommend a European car out of warranty for anyone that doesn't wrench on cars themselves as they can be quite expensive to maintain or repair.

PM me with your budget and what specific things you're looking for and I can do some quick searches and suggestions.
I already setlled on a vehicle while back. Just thought it would be a fun topic. I bought a 2020 Fusion for a pretty good deal. Not something I plan to keep for 200k, but we'll see. I'll let y'all know of any major issues I run across. I tend to put down 30k-40k miles a year.

I'm pretty good at car repairs myself when time permits. I can afford a mechanic, but its hard to find trustworthy ones that can get your car repaired promptly.

Beware the Hyundai and Kia engines. One of my vehicles is a 2012 Sorento that I've always used to haul wood and whatever else I grab at Home Depot. At just over 100,000 miles, it spun a bearing. I called HQ to see if they would make good because the other engine available for this truck was recalled, but they essentially told me, "tough luck". I was going to dump the car, but something told me to hang on to it. There was a class action lawsuit brewing. Cut to January 27 of this year, and Kia recalled my Sorento for the engine. I'm having a new engine installed right now, free of charge. I have other vehicles, but this one I was always very fond of and it's great for hauling bigger items.

The moral of the story is that Hyundai and Kia are notorious for bad engines, and even more notorious for delaying recalls and doing everything they can to avoid them. Other than that, I have to say the quality is surprisingly good. My Sorento is in pretty much pristine shape, No rust, no suspension issues. The only thing I ever did on it was to replace a front half-shaft.

Yes
I know for a fact they have crappy piston rings at the very least and tend to run rough no matter what you do. Noisy fuel injectors too. Irritating clicking/pinging noises

what's full size? 1 ton?
Silverado, not colorado. It used to be that full size meant a an 8' bed, but now everyone wants the crew cab and 6' bed because most people with trucks don't do actual work with them. The point of the 8' bed is that sheets of plywood and drywall come in 4x8 sheets, which will lay down flat in an 8' bed.

I had a 2009 Fusion. Very good car. Got something like 190k miles out of it.

I have an 08 fusion with a 5 speed stick. I hate everything about the driving experience of that car. Buzzy engine, sloppy shifter, Headlights dont turn themselves on, cruise is completely non-intuitive, turn signal stalk too far away from the wheel, paint quality is awful. but it gets 33 mpg on the highway.

A lot of the more reliable cars are not good for attracting "cute" and "hot" 20s/30s women.

Honda and Toyota sedans (Civic, Accord, Corolla, and Camry) are not vagina magnets. An Accord sedan won't attract many women either. These cars are all good cars. Subarus are reliable as well. Outside of the WRX, it's not a vagina getting brand and even the WRX is limited in terms of attracting women compared to other cars. Don't expect a Legacy sedan/Outback wagon to get you more vag.

A Ford F-150 or Chevrolet Silverado could attract some women. In the 1980s and 1990s, Chevy trucks had a great reputation for reliability.

Some BMW and Porsche models are solid cars for attracting sexy women. I'm thinking about the 3 Series, 911, and the sportier models. These sportier models are fun to drive but less reliable. Repairs are costly. BMW 3 Series models are not as well made as they were during their peak in the 1980s.

I’m a Toyota Fanboy. If you’re looking for value, and used look at Lexus ES330/350. Basically a Camry with a nicer interior, quieter ride and cooler badge. I’m a bit of a car nut, just got a 98 LS400 for $500 that needed an alternator and a battery, it’s got 240k on it but I get a huge kick out of bombing around in a $500 RWD V8 luxury sedan that cost someone $40k new.
Lexus ES 300/330/350 are good choices. Very reliable, luxurious, but not performance oriented and not sexy. Lexus ES models are less expensive to repair than the BMW 5 Series or a similar class Mercedes-Benz. BMW and MB will attract more women but often 35+ divorcees.

Disagree completely. The larger Honda and Toyota Sedans are attractive and upscale looking. And the Civic sport and hatchback models are good looking as well.

Hands down the most reliable cars are Toyotas. I used to be a Honda guy but Honda transmissions are atrocious.

I've put 260K miles on my 2013 Toyota Prius C and still have the same battery. I'll drive it till the wheels fall off or the car explodes.

I also have a Toyota Tacoma with 150K miles and still going strong.

I used to ride sportbikes in my 20s so the idea of spending money on fast cars is a joke to me.... Going 120mph in a Corvette is one thing, but going 160mph on an R1 or doing a wheelie on the freeway is a whole 'nother ball game.

For me, reliability and mpg are top priority. I don't care about impressing women with cars.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I used to have a mazda rx8. Chicks LOVED that car, great quality too aside from the dumb self destructing engine design they had to go to.

After that I went with a Honda element for praticality and reliability but I was burned after it had some pretty stupid failures. Parts were expensive for it and some of the design was outright dumb. It also repels women.

Now I own a toyota fj cruiser. Super easy to work on, cheap parts and toyota reliability. It turns heads too and is very fun to drive.

I drive a 2018 Silverado 4x4. I miss the F-150 I had and wanted to buy another one but I just couldn’t say no to the deal I got on the Silverado. Haven’t had any issues out of it but I did delete the AFM thing so we will see if that makes it last awhile or not.

I'm likely to be in the market for a car pretty soon. Currently looking at the Audi TT.
I've always liked those, ever since the concept model back in the 90's. I'm UK based so
parts and availability of competent german car specialist workshop facilities aren't an issue.
I do like a coupe.

My gf is about to buy a used hybrid and likes the avalon better than the prius, but idk which she will get.
Do you think electric cars like Tesla should be bought these days? Gas prices are nuts!

I drive a 2018 Chevrolet Volt. Cross shopped the model 3 and volt but decided on the plug-in hybrid being vastly superior in practicality. I can drive as an electric car 100% on daily commuting but can go on a spontaneous road trip without searching for public charging station. The built quality of Tesla compared to standard automakers is also exceptionally poor for the price premium.

Electric cars drive better than their gas counterparts due to superior acceleration, silence, and lower center of gravity. The tax incentives and lower cost of ownership don’t hurt either...

I drive a 528i.
The engine and handling are superb, but that where my love for it ends.
Runs hot, and I absolutely hate how BMW uses plastic and rubber everywhere they can. The quality of their plastic and rubber is terrible. It tends to rot after 8 to 10 years

Still, as far as the feel on the road goes, the suspension is otherworldly. I’ve yet to find anything that even comes close.

My girlfriend's dad had a bolt, which she would borrow for long trips and often come home with a speeding ticket.

Electric motorcycles are going to establish themselves eventually. BMW has already made a prototype electric bike with internal gyroscopes that basically won't let you crash or fall over.

Not trying to brag or anything but I have 8 cars in my stable and Tesla is one of them. I wouldn't buy one just because the gas prices are high. It will take you anywhere from 5-10 years to realize the cost savings depending on how much you drive.

Also electric rates vary by state and county/supplier. For me I can travel around 45 miles for $1 if I charge overnight when the rates are the lowest off peak to give you an idea.

Also in 2021-2022, there are going to be a lot more EV options coming up. If I were to recommend an EV now and performance is low on your priority list, I'd say VW ID4 mid size SUV is a good value with the $7500 tax credit and 3 years full charging incentive offered through VW/Electrify America. Outside of tires possibly, you're running costs to own this will be $0 for the next three years.

With all this motorcycle talk, I do miss my Aprilia RSV Mille R...

I converted my van into a camper and every girl I've mentioned it to wants to check it out. It happens to have a double bed and a small kitchen to make tea or warm up some soup. The type I go for love that ****. If I mention it to a chick and she isn't interest she's 100% not a match. The rock climbers in particular absolutely love it.
