Tinder and other Match Group owned apps are going to let their users run background checks on possible dates. The company announced an investment in Garbo, a nonprofit that looks to allow people to run background checks with only their first name and phone number or full name. The investment, of which Match didn’t disclose the amount, will help make the group’s tech available to Match’s users, starting with the company’s most popular app: Tinder.

This means Tinder users will be able to vet their dates with details like their arrest record or history of violence. That could dramatically affect who finds success on the app and who doesn’t. Garbo says it collects “public records and reports of violence or abuse, including arrests, convictions, restraining orders, harassment, and other violent crimes,” and its website says it accepts manually submitted “police report(s), order(s) of protection / restraining orders, and other legal documents that report abuse, harassment, or other crimes.”

Match Group has yet to finalize all the details including the price, however, the background checker will undergo a trial run on Tinder in the coming months. Once integrated there, it will likely roll out to the company’s other hookup apps, which include OkCupid, Hinge and Match.

This could actually backfire. Imagine a chick finding out some square-jawed stud has an arrest record for robbery. You think she won't want to find out more?
Yes.

In-person approaching is the way to go.

he's saying it would backfire for the white knight nerds @ the match.com headquarters as this could create the opposite effect of what they're trying to do.

Simple. Get a burner phone #, use a different name. Nothing comes up. It's not hard to come up with workarounds. Most females won't pay for this service anyway. If they force dudes to pay, they'd not use the service. Once bars open up, I'm sure the dating apps will take a hit.

No need for burner phones...phone apps like Text now give you a number and all the features of a phone.

I would never give someone that type of info to run background checks. I have nothing to hide and no arrests, but they have no business looking up 30 years of my life with no context to judge it on and no business of finding out my address before I give it to them.

Can't do that anymore. They now can check and see if the phone is a real number or a VOIP number like TextNow, SkypePhone, Google Voice, MagicJack, and such. The way around this is to get a burner phone with a real number for 10 bucks or so. You can even use an old cell phone, just switch the sim. Cricket, MetroMobile, FreedomPop, Tmobile, etc. They all have cheap ass plans you can pay by the month or whatever. Get one of those, Make up a name, or use one's first and middle name, and it can't be traced back to you in most cases. One can even use a VPN to access the sites until you can chat on the phone. No whatsapp, snap, insta. Phone #, text/call, meetup and bang. Next.

Trust when I say I was a master of this. Here's how I figured this out. I was on Bumble a couple of years ago. I gave my real # to a female so we can take it offline. She used SpyDialer and found out my name, address and a lot more. She even texted me a pic of my house. After that, burner # all the way.

I like it. Now I can run a background check on these chicks to see how crazy they really are.

Granted, if hot enough there is no felony that will stop me from taking them out for a tumble!

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

I do it all the time. If a woman has an issue with it I simply let them know I don't give out my real number until I get to know them better. It's only happened once. Out of like 100 women. I'll take a 1% chance they are going to check on it rather than pay extra for a phone I don't need.

Dude, doesn't work anymore. I was helping a co-worker with match. Setup a new account on Match with a new email and new phone. First tried, Google voice, no dice. Then TextNow, nope, not anymore. He went to Cricket and got the cheapest plan, and then we continued the next day. They're on to that game.

I don't use match. Bumble, Hinge and POF it still works fine for.

This still works with Google Voice. I've been using my GV number with dating apps for the past few years. The most recent was 2 months ago when I rejoined Tinder, OKC, Hinge, Bumble. They all worked with my GV number.

Another good reason to use fake number or secondary number is to avoid all the scammers looking to harvest phone numbers and posting fake profiles for marketing purposes. Now aday's there are even more robo-calls ever more so than before.

The irony is some women may find dating a criminal "alluring."

I mean what's more alpha than kicking in the door of a convenience store, screaming "Get the f*ck on the floor!!!," firing a few rounds from your AR15 into the ceiling, taking all the money...and then a few Twinkies, as you make your way into the getaway car. Right?

Great point.

I've stated the importance of this numerous times on this site.

When using OLD, NEVER use your real phone number and name on the first couple dates until you determine she's not a Bunny Boiler (Google it). I also go with a Google Voice number with an out of area area code, and use Dash as my name. The first question I usually get is "Is your name really Dash?" My reply is, "It's a nickname. Plus, I need to make sure you're not a Bunny Boiler. I don't want to come home some night and find my Doberman in the oven cooking with an apple in her mouth." They usually laugh. Others just stare at me, lol.

Didn't work when we tried it a this month.

At this point you probably have a woman (or multiple women) chasing you around, calling you all the time, wanting to be with you. So let's talk about how to KEEP a woman interested in you once you have her. This is BIG! There is nothing worse than getting dumped by a woman that you really, really like.
