It really is a great movie. Amazon has it to rent. Well worth the 4 bucks. I have the VHS (don't laugh).
Awesome! I've never rented on the internet. Maybe if I get one of those 7-11 visa cards, I'll rent it.
I have Conan the Barbarian and Live at Pompeii-Pink Floyd and my hs graduation on vhs, no player anymore though so no laughs from me. At least you probably still have a player to watch it on.

Where's this list of masculinity movies of which you speak?

RTT was not my cup of tea. Appreciate the message and history behind it, but I just didn't like the movie itself.
on a art of masculinity blog I get delivered to my email. I screenshotted the ones I'd think that I might like. I'll go look at the screenshots and there should be a date in details on the shot and the email/blog date would have been delivered that day or within a few days before that date.

its too bad it wasn't your cup of tea. 'Maltese Falcon' was on that list(your profile name suggests you like that masculine movie)

TBH, you prob. can get the movie free from the library. You'd be amazed how many movies the library has. Never knew until recently. They also have an online version where you can stream for free, all you need is your library card usually.

oh yes, I was trying to entertain my last love in the last month before the end with my hoopla/library card movie watching. I guess I blocked that out of my memory temporarily. Thanks for reminder.

The truth is I can't remember if I've seen Maltese Falcon all the way through. I'm going to put it on my list anyway!

If you are into films about masculinity, most movies by David Mamet are good. (Avoid "Hannibal," unless you want a laugh.) Redbelt, House of Games, Glengarry Glen Ross, Things Change, Spanish Prisoner, Spartan...
I think I may have seen Glengarry Glen Ross. I will look him and it up.

Yes, I definitely saw Glengarry Glen Ross before.
A powerful movie on sales and what a great cast of characters. I learned sales techniques from that movie and once considered being a real estate agent myself.

I had an unusual amount of people tell me to get into real estate sales over the years.

My Dad and brother warned me against it-isolated in empty houses with strangers; meetups in alcohol establishments; have to be available all days of the week and then I learned about the porn fetish with female agents , omg.

The clips I just saw got my heart beating fast though. Same feeling when I dared open that bodybuilder at the gym recently, or when watching a Grant Cardone video where he negotiates price. There might be some future in sales for me, at least, further developing my game in life.....I do get a rush from it.

I'll look up the other Marmot movies.
I've seen House of Games but not Redbelt yet.

that's right. Bring back these examples. It's fantastic idea to expose yourself to strong masculinity examples from movies. It's exhilarating seeing a proper order to things again.

I'll find a way to watch each of these movies.

I think "300" is the best masculine movie, with "Rudy" & "Rocky (I)" as the best sports movies.

300 is awesome. All those movies that have training and physical conditioning in them are powerfully masculine.
Then combine that with strategems of battle. Lots of valuable lessons.

Unforgiven is a movie on that masculinity list.

Just watched the scene where Gene Hackman is in the guardroom with the 2 bad guys challenging either one of them to shoot him with his own pistol!

Nerves of steel, I tell you.
