Any chance to have a limited access area only for regulars to talk freely?

Among the sosuave forum options, there's one called "Anything Else." If certain discussions are locked down, then is this really a place to discuss "anything else?"
All Forum sections are moderated according to Forum Rules. It’s not difficult to understand.

Unfortunately, I'm having "difficulty" understanding, the priorities here. Since you are a mod and are stepping up the plate, I ask you....
why would mods rather lock a thread between older members (that can take it from one another) than to discourage older members from insulting, belittling denigrating new or newer members?

In fact, I've even called out a couple of newly promoted mods for putting down new members (rather than offering constructive advice).

Again, you are a mod and you stepped up to the plate and so I ask; Is the above behavior less important than some old time members having a p!ssing contest?

We are supposed to believe that it's not about discouraging or censoring certain topics and instead... it's about maintaining good behavior.
However, as stated above, I'm just not seeing the mods reinforcing good behavior when it's toward new members.

Actions speak louder than words. Right? Therefor, I'm judging you by yours and not your words.

Good point. New members being insulted might need further moderation with the older member that did it being penalized, but if the newer member started the krapfest, then it’s on him….
Always read the rules first new guys…
Two older members insulting each other though, both will be penalized as they should know better after having that much time beforehand to Read the Forum Rules.

My current comment here isn't expressed with the intention of providing a hostile behavioral environment .. but it sure begs the question. I'm confident that other members are thinking the same thing and so I'll openly say it.

You've been a member here since 2013 and you are known for locking more threads than other mods... and you are just now getting 'religion' about some of the old timers chest-thumping toward new members?

99% of the new members are walking wounded and not instigating bad behavior. I don't wish to come across as hostile, but if you weren't so busy looking for threads to lock, you'd probably already know this.

I like the cut of your jib.

I will say that a lot of times, new posters aren't just innocent guys looking for help.

Threads getting locked has a lot to do with who you're arguing with. Some people like to hit the report button... i.e. women

I've always been in favor of not allowing women on this forum.

Political and religious discussion has not been allowed on the forum for longer than most of us has been here, because it has proven to create too many problems between members. This isn't a new rule and isn't just a result of the current political climate, allowing political discussion hasn't worked on this forum for two decades.

The closest you'll get to a limited access "forum" is by starting a private conversation with multiple members of your choosing in it. Members can also be invited after the conversation is started and they can choose to leave it at any time.

Political discussions were never an issue back in the day, but times have changed.

From what I can dig up political discussion hasn't been allowed since 2003. At times the mods have been soft about enforcing it, but civil discussion never lasts for long. It has been tried multiple times throughout the lifetime of this forum and every time it fails.

Times haven't changed, the problem is the same today as it was back then.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Religion and politics. Always hot topics.

But just look at the guys that were the forerunners of game. What are they up to now?

They all got old and political.

Here's the irony:

Mods expend more energy toward policing discussions (locking threads) that they deem 'offensive' ...
than they do expending that same energy toward policing the offensive (chest-thumping) remarks given to many of the new members that join up.

If this was really about keeping this forum sanitized, the mods would focus more on providing a more friendly and welcoming environment for new members. But they don't. And this is quite telling.

"Actions speak louder than words" ... and so, in view of the above actions (and also lack thereof) it's clear that there's a different motive than simply "cleaning up the bad behavior."

This board is to make money through traffic and revenues, which means that being shadow banned or delisted from search engines or worse yet being closed, is the worst outcome ever.

This is why any sensitive topic (aka not approved from the current PC settings) is locked, while new members that decide not to stick around are a lesser problem.

I'm not mad at mods, I perfectly understand what they are doing (which I would so the same in their place) and why it makes perfect sense given the current environment, this is the reason why I suggested a private sandbox accessible only from trusted users...something that appears "restricted" to common users for the reason of "privacy matters".

Its not the admin's fault, let alone the mod yet we can find a solution for all of us.

Thing is, nothing online is private. The mods would have to use the same discretion as on the regular boards. Anything published "privately" can be screen shot, cached, hacked, etc.
Sure thats true which is why being admitted in such area requires a certain amount of posts and time, that alone would avoid social justice warriors to read or link any thread in other platforms.

I find it every unlikely to have someone post here for 6 months, throw 1000 posts only to get inside the "lions den".

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.
